I just picked up a Canadian 4.2" barrelled M629 S&W the other day. For me, the factory rubber grips are a tiny bit too big for double action shooting and good enough for single action.

Any suggestions for a smaller grip; perhaps with an open backstrap? I realize that it might take a couple tries to get it right.

The rubber Hogues are smaller. I like them but note the open back strap does focus the punishment on your hand when shooting magnums.

My son suddenly remembered that he had a set of square grip Hogues and I could trial fit those. Day and night difference, and I no longer feel like I picked up a baseball bat from the wrong end. Definitely on the right track now; thanks guys.
