What is it? Spruce Grouse? Roughed Grouse? Partridge?

Ruffed, there is no indication that this hen has been roughed up. She maybe suffering from mental abuse but that is for a "social" scientist to determine and punish grouse society for.

This is Spruce grouse that didn't get a chance to think about it....
 
They have figured out where the sunflower seeds come from. When I'm heading for the feeder, I can usually get within 6 or 8 feet before they walk away.
 
I think I have a pic of me eating lunch while line cutting (mining exploration) with a ruffed grouse within arms reach. I'll have to take a look. That pic is on paper - way earlier than internet dazes.....

Except that is a Blue Grouse in your first picture.
