Enfield "Tanker" Revolvers

I’d buy on the EE here if I were you.

I don’t know of any sponsors that have them. But Collector’s Source, Marstar and P&S Militaria have them. The latter two have hard ridden ones that may or may not be in spec.

38S&W is an under-powered cartridge. Difficult to obtain brass, non-standard bullets....Only the Brits would choose this mess.

At the time, the British could have adopted Georg Luger's superior 9mm pistol, or saving that, could have adopted JMB's Colt 1911 auto or........even the Browning High Power. Nope!

This attitude still reigns with most countries seeking new firearms for their armies. Instead of just buying existing designs that work, they want to make their own stuff, like the 38 S&W.....

I reload for my .38 S&W and find no problem finding brass (Starline makes some, and I saved all my commercial brass) and I use 160gr. lead round nose bullets which I can find at Bullet Barn in Victoria or Omaproducts at 108 Mile.

Admittedly it's not a fast bark like a 9mm, more like a soft bang, but it's a fun round to shoot.

I wish I had an Enfield- I shoot mine in a S&W Victory model.

Why a "Tanker"? Webley IV can be had. They are out there.

I have one of these, and great fun to shoot. It would shoot better with better bullets, but for now I'm using Hornady Cowboy .38s that are slightly larger than 9mm; 140 gr. I think; 9mm dies.

I can get behind the 1911 anthology but a P-08 might be an inconic pistol...but in a man to man, the Enfield would probably work every time. It's been said P-08's were obsolete very early in the game.
Good round though. But the 38-200 was purportedly a good man stopper...like the 455 that proceeded it.
We are in an era were autoloaders work really well... it wasn't always so. Lots of old timers were sceptical of them, whether they were right could be argued endlessly. But wheelguns generally work when you REALLY need them to. A functioning Enfield beat a FTF jammed Luger IMO
