A Big One

Serious fortifications at Cartagena. It was one of the ports - along with Havana - where the fleets of treasure galleons assembled for the run back to Spain. There are still buildings standing dating back to when Francis Drake attempted to raid the city.

So, does it give recommendations on how much black powder per shot? I once saw a similar, but smaller one at Old Fort Henry.

A similar one used by the Union forces in U.S. civil war ( The Dictator mortar) used 20 lbs. per shot. The Columbiad class (15 ") of sea faring guns use by Union forces were made to handle 55 lbs per shot...however on of them blew up during a firing demonstration for the Govt. and several of Pres. Tylers cabinet were killed & injured by the event.
