I got a new wingmaster that has the front bead broken off. I'm not much of a shotgun guy so would like to hear from others if I should replace it with the same white factory bead, or do I get something different? Also does anyone know if the front bead on a wingmaster is threaded in or glued? There's not much left sticking up above the rib.

Get another white bead on Tuesday when most stores will be open...
Otherwise dont frett it till you find what you are looking for, its a shotgun after all.

I replaced mine with a brass bead. Still looks nice. I suppose I could always go with white someday.
A gunsmith should have no trouble getting the remainder of the old one out for you. If you’re handy you can likely handle it yourself. Patience is the key word here.

Thanks for the replies guys, I think there's enough of the old bead to make probably two attempts. I am pretty handy, could even weld an extension onto the remaining if I have to, but would rather not go that route if I can avoid it cause I'm not supposed to bring gun parts to work. The gun went to my brother for a Christmas present since I sort of wrecked his Smith n Wesson a couple years ago. We'll try to find another Wingmaster at a store this week to get an opinion on the white bead since neither one of us has ever tried anything other than steel.
I'm sending an email to Remington to see if they'll send me a new bead. Gun was also missing 2 of the choke tubes and the owners manual and whatever else it was supposed to come with....see what happens. I'll play with it next week when I hear back from them.

If you are using the gun for wingshooting, a bead is pretty useless anyway. I think I’ve only ever used a bead while turkey hunting. If you shoot slugs or hunt stationary targets, a bead may be helpful. Otherwise, I wouldnt go to the expense of replacing it if my only intended targets were all flying
That is strange. It is a wingmaster for sure?? and not one of those fancier express they are making now with the nicer stocks etc over regular express

It will be used, probably sparingly, for geese and grouse. It's got a middle bead so I'm gonna put one on the end too. I've never shot one without a bead but ya, I guess it should work without one.
Definitely a Wingmaster. I bought it on my lunch break and didn't take the time to look at it. The guy told me all 870's only come with one choke which I thought was odd considering the MSRP. Sure enough when I had time to look it up, it's supposed to come with 3. I went back right after work and spoke with the same guy. "Sorry bud, I'm not even going to look for them because I know they're not here".

That is terrible, Should have got the three tubes, the tube wrench and the mag plug plus the manual

I would have been back there with the receipt and the gun and the items it came with .
Along with the items it was supposed to come with.
Call the distributor and complain about the poor service from the store and the missing items.
Show a copy of the receipt too, for just North of a grand, you paid for something and it is incomplete.

OLd style Poly Chokes from the 50's used to have ivory beads on them...
Most of my wingmaster barrels have Bradley beads
For pass/wing shooting I found the Raybar(factory Ithaca bead) excellent. I mounted them on both my 101s with the stock center brass bead.
Me honestly I use nothing. When I first started shooting skeet I would mention the bead and pick up my gun for the next round to find the bead missing
Took me a couple of beads to get the message from the boys and I never looked back
But it is all I think what you are comfortable with. I know if I focused on any bead now I would stop the gun
