You Don't Own A Type 81 - You Can't Speak For Us

You proved mine a long time ago. If you want to read how much I care feel free to refer to my post to sks45. :)
Learn to rectify stoppages... I might take you more seriously after you demonstrate you won't tex grubner yourself one of these days.

I have no doubt you have, I am aware there is a thing called a norinco ar after all along with NEA not to mention however many junk hobby guns. Laugh2 Laugh2

And yes, yes it was. There are prescribed weapons drills for a reason. And you should be, then again it won't be a serious stretch to assume you don't have any serious hardware so why bother with any training right?

Or in another decade they will just copy the AK12.

Oh my. Again with the over the top hyperbole, you are really prone to exaggeration. Or your comprehension levels really are that bad.

I cleared my very minor stoppages instantly, with no fuss or muss. And your take away from this is that I am now likely to shoot myself? Keep posting :)

I agree with a lot of what you say. With regards to comparing the 81 to the AK, my opinion is that the 81 is an interesting curiosity but an evolutionary dead end on the AK tree when it comes down to it. But the SKS and the m14 were also platforms that enjoyed relatively short service lives and were quickly surpassed by other weapon systems/doctrines. That does not make them crap guns though. IMO as an evolution of, and answer to "improving" the AK, we can expect similar of the 81 as to performance.

By the way... I never said the T81 was junk... people are just putting it on a pedestal based on loose assumptions.

It seems the PLA has service weapon A.D.D. New designs every decade or so.

"The Soviet designs work good... but let's mash them together and make the Type-63... wasn't as we thought so let's make it more AK-like this time and call it the Type-81. Meh, let's make a bullpup now... maybe we should go back to the SKS/AK thing again."

This seems like a good way to phrase it lol. I wonder what political factors come into play in the Chinese military industrial complex, we certainly have them with our military industrial complex.

The 81 will never have the combat lineage of the AK or the AR, it came along at the wrong place and time. IMO the biggest factor working against the 81 was the rifle it was supposed to replace, the AK. The AK is good enough for most people and is out there in large numbers.

The czech 58 is the same thing, arguably a better rifle than the AK itself.

No but as it turns out I can't get you to kickstart your brain to think about why what you did may or may not have been unsafe I'm just going to spell it out for you. See when you force a round in the chamber you risk pushing the projectile deeper into the case thereby increasing the cartridge pressure, risking potentially dangerous levels of overpressure which can lead to... your shiny new t81 in pieces.

So on top of your refusal learn something new you blow off and defend an unsafe action on top of it.

And since this simple concept evaded you for so long is it really that much of a stretch to imagine other parts of your weapons handling will be equally as laughable if not more? Have a good night budz.

And a good night to you too. I hope your reading comprehension is improved in the morning, not sure why you are still thinking I had to "force a round in the chamber", I mean really, from all I have posted, that is what you still think?

When you are done the Hooked on Phonics series I can recommend some titles to do with reading comprehension, let me know when you feel ready to take it on.

There is no argument. The Cz858 is better in everyway than the type81. I wish it wasnt the case because I had high hopes for the type 81. But its nothing more than a 500$ bullet hose that we paid 1k for... LoL

Either way its just one more rifle to have in the collection.

But the Vz58 has remained in service coming on 60 years now... but that's a Czech rifle.

... back to the Type-81. I might add one to my inventory some day when mags becomes more abundant. Chopping-up AK mags won't do it for me.

I'd be more interested on the Type-03 (QBZ03) if it ever shows up. For now the Vz58 still does what the T81 does and fills that AK hole just the same.

As much as I like my new 81 I would have to agree with this. Aside from being chromed where the 858 isn't there isn't much the 81 is better at. The trigger internals seem "beefier" to me over the 858 but other than I haven't seen where the 81 is substantially better than the 858. Folding stock is better maybe IMO.

The 81 is also nose heavier, has a balance point further out and weighs more to boot. The 858 seems "handier" to me and holding the two side by side I lean toward the 858 as the "better" gun.

Really though, they both do the same job and with similar results accuracy wise.

Sh!t guys, in the time it took me to drive home from work and eat dinner I'm 3 pages behind.
It sucks, no it rules, no you suck, no you do, my rifle is the best, no mine is. Lol, as long as you're shooting and have a smile on your face who cares.

The T-81 is probably my cheapest and crappiest rifle other than my SKS but I still like it and it's fun to shoot, I like having a rifle I don't care about. My T-81 has been drug all around my acreage and has been banged off the fence posts of the dog run, drug across the shingled roof of the dog house (not on purpose but I didn't care), dropped in the snow (on purpose), inside, outside, inside, outside covered in condensation from coming in then back outside into -20C and it's holding up great. I love having a gun that just works and I don't care about. It's done everything I bought it to do except shoot a coyote.
Who cares if there's a better x39 bullet hose? Don't like it? don't buy one. We're arguing over some of the cheapest and most obsolete x39 rifles on the market.
Best battle rifle? It's all just a matter of opinion. If my life was on the line I'd probably grab one of my AR's (maybe my ACR) but that isn't really a worry for me living in Canada so I choose to own numerous rifles that all have their strengths and weaknesses. Isn't that one of the best things about living here? We can own them all if we want and I choose to own close to 30 rifles and six or seven of them are non restricted semi auto rifles. They all get used, some more than others but if I didn't find something about each of them I liked I would sell them, I've been through most of the NR semi's we can have and every one of them has good and bad.

Another garbage rifle.

WHAT!!! How dare you! Lol.
Me likes me my M14's :)
How can you say no to this?

Can you tell me how you modify the AK pmags?? Post some pics??

Lower the front lip, narrow the sides where you can see my grind marks and lower the notch in the back to clear the bolt. Easy peasy.
For the front lip I just put it beside a T-81 mag and made it look the same. Trim the sides till it will clear the receiver and insert cleanly. The rear notch just has to clear the bolt. I did have to remove the bottom cover and spring so I could trim the follower where it hits the rivet until it would insert on a closed bolt with 5 rounds in it, just go a little at a time, it doesn't take much.
AK Pmag mod.jpg
I've used this one for around 50 rounds with zero malfunctions. Unfortunately no more bolt hold open though.

Good point. :)

The price may go down if the demand is there... unlikely as the market for a civilian Type-81 is small at best.

The Vz58 design is more accurate.

I think the 81 appeals to the same market that the 858 does.

Price will be affected by how many come in and how easily they are available, sporadic shipments won't help prices drop.

One thing is for sure, when imports stop and supply becomes finite, price WILL go up.

i feel the Type 81 is superior at looking Chi-Com

And now I am very aware of who I am dealing with tap part in tap rack refers to the magazine. Not the charging handle. Simply put yes anything you say at this point is invalid. Have a nice day.

CR5 asked me a question I answered it. I don't give a flying #### what you are interested in or what you care about. This was an AB conversation, feel free to C your way out

Compared to a vz, and maybe my memory is fading but the WASR I played with felt lighter as well. But mostly the VZ. And forgive me but I don't trust TI all that much these days.

And like I said I try and avoid it if I can, in this instance it's fairly easy. I'm glad you like yours. Enjoy it. :)

Calm down Champ

Exactly one in over 4000 rounds, turned out to be an ammo issue, the primer would not ignite, easily rectified with a tap rack. It wouldn't matter whether that happened to a T81 or SKS or VZ, M4, HK416 whatever the firearm being, What you described is a bolt partially forward malfunction. The end. The only conclusion people will drawing is that you don't know what you are talking about from A incorrect remedial action, and B from refusal to admit to the failures for what they were. Easy to remedy or not, user induced or not you had 2 stoppages. Whether that's acceptable is up to people. With your level of knowledge on weapons handling I'm not sure I trust your assesment of what happened and while it's highly likely that it was incompetence on your part, it's also highly likely that your rifle has feeding problems.

Since all you guys are so adamant your shiny new rifle is awesome I hope I see one or two at the 3 gun matches.

Shush, it's the most amazeballs thing ever mk?

The Vz58 design is more accurate.

Just out of curiosity, what is average group size from you 858?

It has been a long time since I shot my 858 for groups and I can't recall getting anything better than 4". And I have been really lazy, I haven't even adjusted the sights for POI change from adding a brake. The one and only time I shot tannerite I used my SKS and was able to connect with the 1/4 pound targets with surprising success. I don't think I have ever seriously shot for groups with my SKS, I mostly shoot steel these days over paper.

I really hope to have a good day out at the range, take my time and put a solid effort into shooting the 81, 858 and SKS for groups.

Let me know when you can manage basic weapons handling. There is not much else to talk about.
