Bobafett themed cerakote by rustspot (pic heavy!)

if someone came to me with a picture asking me with to his AR this way should i just reject it? because its not original?


i would try my best to do what ever work to the owners satisfaction . ive done guns in pink or weird colors before which are definitely not my taste but hey the owners were happy with the final product and thats the bottom line.

I have done many projects for my customers that were everything from mild to wild. I have done a highly customized 10/22 in an R2D2 colour theme. I would not copy someone else's work that closely. I might do my version of a movie gun but that gun in the picture was done by a very talented Cerakote artist. That's just me. You guys have at it. But please Rustspot, if you are doing work for other people, you should fully disassemble all the tiny parts before spraying.

No time wasted Hcrboy. Just expressing an opinion. It was not meant as any kind of insult. You have a wonderful collection and very good taste in guns. I get over critical about things that are my own pet peeves. It is not a criticism of your taste.

The OP even posted a picture of it stripped down and the parts painted...
 
Not sure how rustspot can be anymore creative without ruining the bobafett theme. Although similar they are different. Base colour is more green on the original where as mine is more grey. How rustspot painted the rail and the colours used, more blue is different as well. Any more different it would be just an AR with a bunch of different colours. It’s a tough job trying to be original while sticking to the theme I wanted.

I was going to leave this thread as it seems I have upset a few people. If you are serious, you need to separate the parts so that no two separate parts are still in contact when you degrease, sand blast, and then spray them. Contaminants will always hide between the two parts and possibly bleed out after spraying and during the baking process. This will cause the Cerakote to bubble or lift off. As per the very first page in the Cerakote instruction guide this is how disassembled an AR needs to be.

LMAO you just had to walk right into the trap. i was being sarcastic and even gave you a chance to leave this but you just had to dig yourself deeper into your own hole. if you even look at the pictures you can see pic#1 in the oven where stock and safety are off and upper lower intact (to line up the lines and make sure everything fits for final bake) where in pic# 2 (which i posted purposefully setting you up )everything was off except the safety and the stock extension which indicate at one point every single pins and screw was off the gun . i gave you a chance to put 1+1 together. i didnt feel like i had to justify my work to anyone other than the owner of this gun,i sent him couple of progress pic to show him where its at , i was not doing a tutorial . please read the thread from page one. i never really said anything until people like you voice your opinion on what people should do to their property .and you took it to the next level telling me how i should do my job. lol.

I can assure you 8 ball it’s not splashes of colours in random spots. The mixing, shading, fading and layering of cerakote takes planning and a bit of vision.
