Can anyone help me out with a value for a vg+ to excellent older model 27 revolver?
I'm still struggling with value trades etc with my S&W 460 XVR. Love the big gun, but not to practicle..its more of a novelty piece lol.

Just don't want to end up in the short end of a deal.

Cheers.
Happy New Year!

Hard to say as these seem to be all over the map recently. 800-1000. More if really excellent and if it comes with all original materials.

I'd guess 900-1000 if it's in really good shape. Add $$ if it has the presentation box and tools. I feel that compared to the pricing on some handguns lately these older Model 27's are a bargain.

It's what they sell for that matters.
The 5" barrel model that sold recently (and listed at 1200) was mint and 5" is the most desirable length.
The one for 2k is LNIB an older more collectable vintage but notice it has not moved.

Gunbroker is a way to get an idea of the prices paid in the US. They have risen in the last decade on the older Smiths. I have a 27-2 in nickel with target trigger that I brought in from the States. No regrets; the big frame is beefy, and it's always a pleasure to shoot at the range.

As you hear there are many variations of the model 27. Most desirable are pre-27 and then is the condition, different sights, barrel length and finish (blue or nickle). If you want a more accurate estimate you will need to post couple good pictures with a description and partial S/N.

That guy had the gun up first for like 850. I pmed him and told him he could get 1200 easy for a 5 inch 27-2. Hell if he had patience he would get 1500. They are rare birds.

Very nice of you. I've done that on occasion myself. 850 would be way too low.

I saw the price jump and was surprised—to me if you list a gun at a price and it turns out that it's too low it's on you as the seller to honour it; if you want to reprice you delete the ad, wait your seven days and relist it. I really hope that there were no "I'll take it's" sent before the price increase—I very very close to sending one myself until I saw the new price. The buyer was likely glad you did, though.

Not sure he didnt respond to me, its possible it was a typo or something on his part. Either way i dont believe the add was up long before he changed the price.
