Aero lightweight scope mount - Flexing like there's no tomorrow...

I recently swapped scopes for a Viper PST 6-24x on my precision AR and decided to try an Aero 30mm ultralight weight scope mount I had laying around from a past project, even if its lightweight design terrifies me.

I generally shoot .4 -.7moa with this rifle with the last scope/mount setup I had and this past weekend I couldn't shoot anything under 1moa. I figured it was just not my day and let it go.

Tonight my OCD struck and I wanted to investigate a little further... I put my bore sighter on the rifle, and with very minimal force on the scope, I can move the reticle .7mil in any direction. To make it worst if I hold it for few seconds, it sticks and does not return to the same position when I let go.

I can't say I've ever tried this with other mounts, but this can't possibly be normal??? Please note that all screws have been torqued properly and that I've installed countless scopes and rings.

Yes I always use blue loctite, on both rings and base. I find it strange that I haven't seen a single bad review on them though... but then again, I've never seen them on sub moa guns... so it might be going unnoticed.

I'll email Aero and ask.

I’ve got over 600 rnds through my Gun, with most being for load development.
I’ve had quite a few sub MOA groups, with a couple being repeatable.

But I’m curious as to what they say.

And I’ll definitely be watching for any signs of movement.

I responded, and I am now waiting on his response. I don't think it's as bad as I originally thought, but at its price point and weight; I'm getting something more "industry standard" for what I do with it. I'll get back to you with Aero's answer, as I doubt they'll state "Stay clear of our product" and I've already made up my mind about it.

Please note that my opinion could be completely wrong, and is only my opinion from the amount of good reviews.

That would definitely fall under industry standard, and then some! lol. I've been battling with either going Larue or ADM... after spending a day reading reviews and not working; I ordered the ADM.

I’ve wondered how you torque a QD.
 
I have an Aero Mount and it seems pretty rigid to me but I have a small fairly lite weight scope in it and it is not an extreme cantilever model.
This video below shows some nice slow motion mount flex on a 6.5 Creedmoor, not sure why this guy is running such a huge cantilever when there seems to be miles of picatinny rail-estate but there is a ton of flex. As long as everything settles back consistently it's probably no big deal.

Aero's last response, to which I thanked them. No point in continuing the conversation, as no company would ever trash talk their own product; and I have no way to continue any form of test, as I have already removed it. For all I know the Aero mount was better then the one I'm replacing it with!

They are well suited for a multitude of purposes from hunting to bench shooting, and although our scope mounts are extremely lightweight, they will keep your scope solidly in place so long as you do not plan on permanently modifying them.
