M&P "dead trigger" issue

Also, tell us about your ammo. Are you 100% sure it's not a battery issue? Did you tap the rear of the slide when it happened? Have you taken the barrel and plunked the ammo?

I just went through your post history and noticed that you may have done some trigger work on your M&P, is that the case? If so, what did you do? This type of information tends to be pretty important when try to figure out what may be wrong.

Why not just send the gun to their repair center and get it fixed. Given your history of stripping it down to the frame I am willing to bet you have either got something wrong, which is difficult or bent something in your desire to have a "clean" gun. The lesson here is if it isn't broke why fix it.

OP, only do this if you want to be without your M&P for over a year and have it returned unfixed. Unfortunately in Canada we have to become our own gunsmiths.

As far as I know Murray Charlton has a much better reputation than that. Certainly it was not the case when I sent my slide in to be fitted with a new 1 - 10 twist barrel. Being his own gunsmith has got him his dead trigger. Maybe he should try another avenue. Just saying.

For someone who was not aware S&W had eliminated the magazine disconnect on virtually all M&P's imported into Canada you sure have got a lot to say. I am sure you assistance will indeed be of great value to him.

ps He might want to take his striker out and see if it is not broken. The ;ittle plastic tab broke on mine leaving me with a dead trigger. Mine was an early version of the gun and the early strikers had a habit of breaking. S&W changed their striker supplier or the design and for the most part the issue was resolved....Just Saying.

I dont want to send the gun in as its my only pistol so id be without a gun period if i did that and i like to shoot 100-200 a week.

As for the battery issue, no i have never tried tapping the back of the slide as it just happened to me while in the middle of a stage for IPSC and my mind has just been programmed to rack the slide autmotically. Im gonna load up some dummy rpunds and see if i can induce the dead trigger again and i will try.

The ammo im using right now is remington UMC 115gr. But im almost out of that and i have some cci blazer 124gr coming in the mail.

And as for any comments on me simply being an idiot that damaged something or is over cleaning, im more that qualified here guys, i do mainteneace on equipment for a living. Cleaning grime and re lubricating parts has never damaged anything in the history of machines. Leaving dirt and grime there to act as an abrasive on parts has though. So that theory that im incompetent or that 'cleaning' has somehow ruined the gun can just stop.

Wow, you're trying to hard to spin my words there Bobby. Here's my statement so you can review it more closely.

Are you sure? I remember the magazine disconnect being an option when the M&P first hit the market many moons ago.

Regardless, it's very unlikely that the OP has one of those models.

Just because my opinion differs from yours doesn't mean you have to get mad Bobby. You have a lot to offer but quantity doesn't always trump quality.

It sounds like you're on top of the situation but it may take some time to accurately diagnose the problem. Don't overlook any possibility and the next time it happens try to see if it's a battery issue. I doubt it's an ammo problem, since it's factory, but it wouldn't hurt to try something else.
