Questions for References?

they will ask...
-about your anger
-violence
-aggression
-alcohol/drug use
etc

and they word the questions in a weird way...."give me an example when soNso acted out aggressively."
 
They asked approx. 10-15 questions to each of the references and 22 questions to the applicant. The references questions were all about any character, violence, depression, past crime issues. The applicant very similar, but one question sticks out; "Why do you want to purchase a handgun? Because I want to join a range for target practice." All yes or no questions, no more, no less. Oh yes, they finished off by saying; "If you have any safety concerns about this applicant, please do not hesitate to call 1 800 731-4000."
 
Just don't be a referance for a member of the RCMP that is trying to get his restricted....longest phone call of my life when I did that. I was on the phone with them for 45 minutes....asked every question you could think of in everyway you could think to ask them. Every 5 minutes or so I was re-informed that the call is being monitored and my responses are being recorded. I felt like the Gestapo was was gonna bust down the door any minute while I was on the phone. The best question was asked 4or 5 different times with a little different spin on it each time." Has the applicant ever told you about a time he used violence in his line of work?" Has the applicant ever commited violence in his line of work? Has the applicant ever bragged about violence that occured in his line of work? Are you aware of any complaints made against the applicant related to his line of work? Talk about reverse stereo typing....he got it though.

i think that's one of the best questions that you can be asked. for all the RCMP know, some criminal or gangster is intimidating you or your family so he can get firearms illegally, which is part of the reason that they ask you, right at the start, if you are alone and able to talk freely.
 
Hmm... if the RCMP get such a hard go during interviews, I wonder what I am going to get as a military member.. I just applied for my RPAL.... Served with my references in Afghanistan.. if they start asking questions about agressive behaviour they should get interesting responses...
 
One of the things I found surprising is that my references were told that they have an obligation to call the RCMP if they think my guns should ever be taken away. Kind of a snitch recruitment exercise; very Orwellian.
 
When they called my 2 references. It was pretty much over within mins. They asked maybe 3 questions. AKA is the person going to go all Rambo if we give him his RPAL? Lol
 
My best friend put me down as a reference for his first time PAL holder and nobody called me or his other references. However I wonder they didn't call because of his work in the government.
