30 Nosler or 300 Norma Mag. Anyone have any experience with either cartridge?

My buddies 300 rum makes my 300 wm seem like the fat kid on the bench during sprints for the fast kids

Over the chronograph I was a Lil bit ashamed and he was using factory loads vs my hand loads.

For a cheaper budget I'd go 300 wby or 300 rum. Then take wedding money and buy what ever faster 30 you want. Collect to entire set.

I'm in the chronographed speeds of both if you don't mind.

My .300 RUM produced a whole 150 fps over my .300 Wins, and that's it. In return for that it shows up
with what feels like twice the recoil and excells at turning gunpowder into noise.

I rather liked the Sako custom it was built on, and hunted it hard until the barrel died. It didn't make 600 rounds and it was toast.

Rifle is a 7-300 Win now.

He was getting 3260-3280 in his rum
I load to 2920 as it's most accurate for my wm. It topped out at 2995-3010 with flat primers. 3025fps got me a slightly stiff bolt

Maybe I just have a slow 300 wm. He does have 2" more barrel than I do
You are right about the recoil and the concussion of the rum is impressive whereas my 300wm is rather tame

If you want to keep costs down buy a 300 RUM and shoot it for a year. Then rebarrel it to which ever cartridge you want more next year, If you decide on the 300 norma the only mod you would need to make is opening up the bolt face.
