Well as a leftie looking for a varmint rifle, I quickly found there isn't a lot of options. I tried several left handed bolts which were not for me. I just couldn't get comfortable.

Thus my options were going to be a semi. As an avid Benelli owner, the MR1 was an easy sell.

Did a bit of searching on here but haven't been able to really find much as for loads, accessories, optics etc.

For the fellow MR1 owners on here, please feel free to fill me in on what your experiences of what and doesn't work. ;)

Tagged , I have also been interestedwith the MR1 as a hunting rifle as well as a range toy and being NR ?...

Nice rifle, very high quality... Overpriced these days. I would not pay more than $1250 for one. (And have turned a few down at 1250)

I've had one for quite a few years. It's a relatively accurate semi auto 223, but don't expect to reliably kill prairie dogs at 300 yds. Scope mounting with proper cheek weld can be a bit of a chore the way the rear sight is shaped. You can either file down the sides of the sight or remove it entirely and get a longer picatinny rail from Alberta Tactical Rifle. I did the latter and have an Elcan OS4X mounted. It's my short range coyote and wolf gun. I haven't done much load development as it's more of an offhand, quick shots, close range type of gun for me.

The gun is the ComforTech grip. I purchased a few 10 round mags on sale at a local shop as the 5 round Benelli clips were $140.00 each.

The plan is for a 250-300 yard yote/coon gun to clean up my upland, waterfowl and turkey properties.

I am pretty sure I will remove the rear sights cuz I'm thinking of running a Burris 3-9x40.

Also looking for a bipod that will allow up to ~29".

I have the big brother R1 in 308...gas system is a little more complex then other semi's but it's durable apparently. Bit of a pain to clean as carbon builds up pretty solid and fast there.
Mine took a good 150 rounds to break in and settle down to shoot MOA. Good quality guns.

I had a MR1 with the Comfortech stock. Wish I never sold it. Stupid me. They are better rifles than most people give them credit for.

Well confirmed today that my gun shipped from a sponsored vendor!

However, when they called to discuss shipping details, I was informed by the sales guy that several have sold due to great sale and there are aftermarket and custom machining to make these things nail drivers out to 600 yards. I have googled so much that the "M" "R" and "1" keys are worn away. Is there anyone who can help with modifying this gun?

Best advice that I could give is to put on a scope that works well for you. You may have to remove the rear sight so that you can mount the scope low enough for a good cheek weld.

Then once the rig is dialed in start handloading for it. Find a bullet weight it likes and an OAL that works well for its chamber/throat and then practice, practice, practice.

Caramel can probably get you started with bullet weights/selections. I think he was doing well with 77 grain pills.

It's a thin barrel so if you are shooting for groups be prepared to let it cool down whne necessary. Bring along a .22LR to pass the time while you wait.

Gun came in and is now in thr cabinet.

the rear sights everyone warned me about came off with ease. However the high mount scope rings my local gun shop provided did not clear. I do like the idea of keeping the iron sights.

the next items will be a tri rail for a bifold and sling. Any vendors recommeded for these?

I kept my irons as well but you have to accept the high scope mount and cheek weld issues. I went with a QD PEPR 30mm cantilever mount and put a cheek pad rest on my telescoping scope for the cheek weld. The added bonus is that I can actually use the irons with the scope/mount in place, albeit slowly.

But with the QD I can take the scope off almost instantly and go to the irons if needed. It is my night rifle so I like to take off the scope when I train in the dark with my NOD.

I think I bought my tri rail off of the EE but the Benelli dealers must stock them as well.

If you want to keep the rear sight on, just file down the side wings on the rear sight. They're largely cosmetic anyhow and much taller than necessary, then your scope will clear.
FYI, stocks from a Supernova will fit the MR1 with slight modification. I interchange telescoping and straight Comfortech between the two guns frequently.

I had the ATRS flat rail installed and I can mount most low optics and still keep a cheek weld.

I went back to a bolt action as my tote rifle so I’ve had mine up for sale for awhile, these rifles go in phases none will move for 3 months then EE will sell out all at the same time.

Enjoy your new rifle they are fun and always go bang.

If i had EE privliges I would have entertained used. But been grew tired of waiting and just decided to pull the trigger on a new one.

i really do like the ComforTech stock although it could be 1-2" shorter.

once i get EE privleges, i will look for a tri front rail and better optics as the 2-7x32 will not cut it.

You have more pics of you gun?

Also, any leads on CGN Benelli dealers? Spent two hours and 5 Rickard's searching with no luck.

Hey J_Corr,

I have been struggling for roughly 2 years to create an accurate batch of bullets for my Benelli MR1 in the 223 caliber with a 1-9 twist rate. I use this rifle as a coyote gun. What have you had luck with so far.

Here is what I have tried so far:

Powders: Varget, Benchmark, superperformance
Primers: CCI , Winchester
Brass: Remington, Winchester
Bullets: 53 grain V-Max, 55 Grain V-Max, 60 Grain V-Max, 55grain Nosler Varmint BT

With all of these different combinations I have not been able to generate any 1MOA groupings at 100yards. Not even close to 1MOA. However, I have heard great hings that people are getting .5MOA with this gun. I tried reaching out to them but no luck.

Thanks

The MR1 is a 2moa Rifle at best... if their were guys getting 0.5mia groups it would be the most sought after AR by everyone!

If someone is getting 0.5moa why are they not on the “my gun shoots 1moa” list??? It’s because they are lying and at best they had one lucky group that hit it once.

Don’t believe everything you read... if you get 1-1.5moa with this rifle I wouldn’t touch it. 3-4moa there is some work you can do anything inside 2.5 that’s a good day.
