A recent CGN'er here offered me a West German SIG P226 im aware of what their worth; however this one has Polizei stamped on it (Police Issue). It comes with 2 mags, the original box and manual. The holster wear looks rough. The owner insists his Polizei model is rare, collectable and worth more than an average West German P226. Google hasn't been any help. What is this worth?

I'm pretty sure Tradex was selling those less than a year ago for $650 plus tax and shipping. It could be another dealer but I remember seeing them.

Not sure how a police trade-off pistol can be called a collectible and would worth more than a regular used pistol. They usually are kot shot a lot, but they will show significant wear for carrying and holster wear.

Just so you have something to compare with, I picked up a P226 for about $650.
It was made in West Germany in 1984 and issued to RCMP.

There was a boat load of them a year or two ago, every dealer had them. That one is in good shape, I don't see much wear, some were like that, some were worse. Ex-police pistol would not add any special value IMHO.
First pistol I ever purchased was a brand new German P220 9mm with side mag release, $600 from Milarm many moons ago.

We have a few hundred used 226 ariving end of week.
Some will need refinish some not
Price will be based on condition
