I don't think there is anything wrong with the Norc 1911 style pistols. I don't like the new ones with the ambi safety and the slide serrations etc. I guess I'm old school. I have some friends from South Africa and they said the Norincos are very durable pistols. and I agree with a previous post . crappy mags are usually the biggest problem with with the Norinco pistols or any other firearm. been there done it seen it.

I got the Norc simply because it was priced right and I didn't want to invest a bunch in a pistol I may not like, difficult to recover big bucks on a used expensive gun. For the price I will be keeping this gun for a while. I paid $325 for it slightly used, no wear on the bluing that I could see.

I had one. Beautiful two tone gun but I HATE putting them back together after a field strip. And that external extractor just looks wrong!
Not a huge fan of norc stuff... But for $300 lightly used on the EE I can totally understand buying one over the $1000 -$2000 upper end ones. I might settle with a SAM... Which I imagine is at least a small step up from a norc.
I totally regret not buying the colt commander from tenda when they had them on sale for $1000. I found them for sale somewhere else for $1300 but I just can't justify that.

I'm waiting for cash to replenish after the holidays for a Ruger 1911 9mm commander. When they go on sale, can be had for $850-900. Very well reviewed and a true 70 series as well.

I can say from personal experience the Norc 1911 in .45 ACP are exceptionally made pistols.
If you get a chance, take a look at one close up and strip it down. You will be amazed at the quality of the parts. Of all the Norc firearms I've owned and still own, my old Norc 1911 in .45 was very well built. Fit was very tight. It shot as good side by side as my friends Spartan Sig 1911.
An odd note is that when we were doing the side by side test at the range, my Norc would shoot his Sig mags with zero issues but my norc mags would not run in his Sig.
The single only reason I sold it was because I don't reload and the cost of .45 was killing me. It was by far one of the most reliable and solid handguns I've ever owned. And the price is incomparable to anything else bang for buck-wise.
We have to differentiate between the 9mm and .45 ACP with the Norc 1911's. I have heard bad things about the Norc 1911's in 9mm out of the box. I know for a fact the .45 ACP ones are very solid pistols.

Had a Nork 1911 9mm. After I fixed the magazine follower issue on the original norkie mags, it ran flawlessly. Likewise it ran perfectly with Tripp mags. Only reason I sold it was I did not see any point in shooting 9mm out of the 1911. It was accurate but boring, might as well shoot a 22 conversion and do away with reloading 9mm for the 1911.
I do like to shoot the 9mm in my FNH FNSs, Glock 17, Ruger P89s and Alfa Project revolver.
I may be out of topic, but I believe the best 1911 9mm is the FNS9. Ergonomics very similar to 1911, after all John Moses Browning worked with FNH and some JMB thinking may have rubbed off on FNH so when they designed the FNS9 they could not hide the influence.

Mostly the same. Only difference is if you have an extended guide rod vs the bushing plug/ cap. Yes, comparing to all other guns that don’t have a barrel link that is annoying to engage while putting the slide stop back in! Take down is easy. Putting it back together is the annoying part. Everything is easy compared to a 1911 and no risk of an idiot scratch.
Totally agree it is a pain in the butt. It is particularly annoying with a tight gun. I admit that I have left my Les Baer at home on a few occasion because I did not have the energy to wrestle with it after. The Sig P22Xs are also a breeze to field strip.
I have a Citadel 1911 in 9mm (made by Armscor in the Philippines) and it shoots just dandy - better than I can hold!!
Have had zero issues with the gun through about a year of ownership and close to a thousand rounds of 9mm.
It was retailing for $750 (with 2 mags) but I got it on sale for $650.
