Hi,

My friend's dad has dimentia and my friend has asked me to help him sell off his dads rifle collection. They are all non-restricted rifles and I have a PAL.
The problem is that his dad lives in London which is quite far from me. If I am to help my friend, he has to bring them to my house (or even to a gun shop) and I cannot find any reference on RCMP website which states that a PAL is required for transportation. I don't want to give my friend incorrect advise. Does anyone know if he can legally bring them to my house without a PAL (considering the RCMP stated requirements are met?

Thank you!

I wouldn't ask him to drive to you loaded with rifles with no license to be honest. If his father has dementia and that Diagnosis is linked from medical records to the RCMP they can seek possession of this arms. If it's your good friend drive down have dinner and stay the night driving home the next day. London is a nice town to visit.

Other options he can consign with a retailer.
He may assist his father in listing and selling the items by confirming purchasers PAL (he can list himself online)
Or surrender to the Tyranny.

The P in PAL is for possession, if you are transporting a firearm it is therefore in your possession. Otherwise everyone caught with a firearm without a PAL would say they were just transporting it to their friend who does have a PAL... He could crate them up and ship them Canada Post.

For sure he needs a PAL to bring them outside the house. Don't sweat about the rcmp showing up to take them but you should go there and drive them home yourself.
Are you planning on posting them on EE? Chances are they will sell fast if it's a lot of older firearms.

And yes I will be posting them on EE, he sent me the list of names but i have no idea how to value them without inspecting the condition. There is a model 94 from 1897 that got me excited but the others I have never even heard of!

Yes he would need a PAL. I only see 3 options. He could drive and bring his dad. You could drive there and take them. I think the best option would be to ship them though.

His buddy doesn't have a PAL yet you are suggesting he post firearms for sale online?
That HAS to be the dumbest suggestion I have seen on here in a long time.
BETTER TO BE DRIVING THEM TO HIS FRIENDS HOUSE

It wouldn't hurt to post the list here. I'm sure some of us can give you an idea of what they are worth. Even if someone tries to low ball because they want an item it won't take long before someone else calls the price out as being too low.
In the end no one wants to see an old fella get ripped off.

I can post it for sure but like I said it's hard to value them without seeing them. Still any advice is always appreciated.

You need to read the EE rules, selling for someone else is not allowed.

Thanks for the reminder. It makes sense and I wouldn't even know if the shoot or not which is a different problem altogether. It seems the only option it to take then to a shop and unload as a package.
