As an Adcor fanboy, I can't help but find this interesting.

Their PR/marketing sucks. They've since offered a Keymod rail in place of the quad rail.

In my opinion, they should upgrade to MLOK and pair their upper with a TRULY ambi lower (as I have via LMT) and they would then have a very comparable HK416-style rifle on their hands at a lower cost, not to mention their truly free-floated piston system. The barrel is cold hammer forged FN, chrome lined.

I can't speak to my rifle's accuracy vis-a-vis others, but it's a soft shooter and while a bit nose-heavy, no worse than other piston uppers.

I remain cautiously optimistic that they will eventually offer an MLOK handguard. From an aesthetic standpoint, the rail ending before the government profile barrel cutout is admittedly odd looking. Functionally, I wouldn't mind a longer rail to be able to grip a bit farther forward. Rail attachments in front of the non-reciprocating charging handle would also solve one of the biggest complaints, being the quad rail's inability to mount anything on the same side of the rail as the charging handle.

All that to say, I love this rifle :)

A couple photos for fun and context.

The ADCOR is a little known gem.

I looked at the new handguards but I use my tango down as a back stop rather than a handle. As a result the rounded step down handguard fits the contour of my thumb and is very natural. Plus if I could shoot this full auto the c clamp over the top is also very natural. I would prefer it if they had kept the same contour but went Mlok/keymod.

Jealous of your lmt mars lower. My HERA ambi lowers were the first two in Canada but they were stripped. Fun projects but if the lmt was available I would likely have gone that route. I was considering KAC but the cost and questionable availability led me to the HERA.

Going to have to put more rounds through my ADCOR carbines this year!

Would like to see ADCOR get some traction with this product. It’s been over looked for far too long!

I updated mine a bit. Still have to put the tango down on the scoped one along with rail covers.

I'm very impressed with the Adcor upper I have. Yes, that company needs to be a lot easier to buy from/get a Canadian distributor.
I really wanted on of their longer barreled receivers for a dmr--despite all sorts of phone calls, was too hard to buy one/get info

Epoxy! Good to see you again. You were certainly a very useful resource when I was deciding which route to take with this gun.

Greece is broke. They were also "supposed" to get 400 Abram tanks from the US. That never panned out either.

Yes we all know they are broke. That being said the tax transparency Act with Switzerland takes effect this year. Tax evasion was cited as a major reason for them being broke.

The main point however is if the ADCOR rifles start being adopted by a military it may lead to more interest and or contracts. The ADCOR did make it to the second round of the US M4 replacement trials before the US cancelled the competition.

Plus there is a little bit of poetry in that, Konstantinos Stavrakis was an immigrant from Greece and his son bought the company from him to create ADCOR.

For those who don’t know, a lot of the US made Colt uppers were actually made under contract by ADCOR. Plus this system offers all of the benefits of a piston system while also retaining the benefits of DI such as accuracy. The gas is bled off the barrel the same as DI with a tube which feeds a piston system which is mounted to the handguard rather than the barrel.

This is actually the only piston AR I own.

Thanks CS! That’s a nice setup you have. I’m a fan of the Aimpoint pro myself. Are those KAC backup sights or the new lmt backup sights? Also did you deal with the left side charging handle and rail panel issue? I’m not seeing any left side pics. Clipping the panel end the way I did on mine has worked perfectly. Should also work with the rail panel I see on yours.

I got the PRO years ago back in TO when I was still building this thing piece by piece. I paid a shockingly little as compared to what they go for these days. Seemed like good all around optic for my purposes.

The backups are the Magpul Pros. I also threw a Raptor charging handle on there after you confirmed that it worked with the proprietary Adcor bolt.

I put a cheap UTG QD mount at the rear of the rail near the receiver and it works perfectly with my BFG two point sling for shooting from either side. And this is an older photo before I swapped the grip for the BCM.

As to the rail panels, I got some Magpul XTMs and used an exact on the charging handle side to shave it. I was able to leave enough material that it grabs but the can still move without interference. The panels certainly smooth out the sharp quadrails. Like I said, I would love an extended MLOK version, if only for a slimmer profile and lower weight (plus aesthetics ).

I looked at the 18" version for a DMR as well. But... I would have wanted a nitrated SS version for that which isn't available. The FN is very accurate for a CL barrel. As you proved with the 1 moa black rifle challenge in 2015, also as shown in the white labs testing and the US military trials. I went with a regular 16" version and scoped it for more of a Reece style. It seemed like a good way to go.

Nice work by the way with that 1 moa challenge.

I bought a couple of the PROs as well back when they were reasonable. I wish I had bought more. Once behind the gun, I barely notice any difference between them and the Aimpoint M4S I use at work. Again, I wish I had bought more.

Single point sling guy here. But that sling I have is the same one as used by the RCMP, so I can go single or two point in about a few seconds. I like single point, but if I was able to take this on a quad, hikes etc then two point would be the preference.

Good to know about the XTM panels. I will be going with those for the black scoped version. The Magpul panels I used with the fde/black were off another rifle I bought second hand. So they were the perfect candidates for doctoring up.

I don't know, I'm digging the original style handguard. It just really works for me. But I'm also not very tall so I don't need the super long extension for the vertical grip. But... the new handguards would put this into the current trend. I do have to say that some of the newest ones such as the KAC Mod 2 are very nice. As for weight, I didn't even notice this wasn't a DI rifle in terms of handling. Plus it shoots very smooth.

The one interesting change after the M4 competition was the move to a monolithic design for the long stroke piston. DPMS GII also went this route which eliminates the gas key screws. I would prefer this with mine but... I noticed these new BCG aren't chrome lined like ours are. So I'm good with what I have and won't be running out to get the newest version.

That's a solid carbine setup you have there. Very nice.

Good to know the rifle can shoot better than I can!

Who in Canada sells just the uppers for these? I'm intrigued, after doing a bit of research!

Right now it looks like no one does. Saskatoon gunworks used to bring them in. It's where most of us bought them. Irunguns was also carrying ADCOR. I don't know if they still do or not.

Glad I ran across this thread. Very interesting rifle. What did they sell for when they were available in Canada?

I paid around $1300 all in (if I recall correctly) for my 16" upper from Saskatoon Gun Works.

Complete rifles can be found around $1700 USD, south of the border.

Thank you! I dont think anyone else noticed Adcor was the make of the rifle.

The Adcor upper is as accurate (or even more so) than the 2 competition (custom) uppers that I've owned--and a piston upper to boot.
IIRC, Sask gunworks dropped the Adcor lineup (not sure why, but I think the problem was on Adcors end).

I'd buy an Adcor DMR asap if they at least returned my call(s) and/or had a dealer willing to sell one :( Please, take my money!!
I think I'll go with an FN 15 competition rifle instead....

That's not too bad, I wish IRG still carried them. The cheapest import charges I found ($225) are a bit hard to swallow.

Upon further thought, I realize I paid $1800 CAD all in. $1300 was the lower.

But I agree, factoring in importation, duty, tax, etc, it becomes a pricey upper. That said I don't think it's a stretch to say it can rival many of the best uppers out there.
