I bought a Rigby rifle kit on gunnutz a couple years ago and I just finished it, just have make the springs to hold the sight perpendicular and rub the stock down with rotten stone and it will be good to go. The barrel is a GM barrel 45 bocr blank in #3 taper but i turned it round and cut rigby flats in it. Here are a few pics of the process and end product.

Superb work! Beautiful gun you have created there.

I'm guessing it has a fast twist for big conical bullets judging by the serious long range sights.
Hope you give us some more updates when it's been to the range.
 
Yes it has a 1/18 twist barrel and a false muzzle to start those long bullets. We will see how it does. Inwould love to try it out at 1000 yards.
 
your abilities considerably surpass mine; I am very impressed. What shape of milling cutter did you use to create the curved shape between the flats on the breach end of the barrel?

Thanks, I am slower than dirt but try to get one project done every now and then and am usually fairly happy with the results. I just used a small flat ended end mill and took small cuts with the barrel rotating part of a degree each cut. Then I used a file to finish the round. The hardest part was where it meets up with the breach plug.

Nice rifle and should see you well for 1000 yards. We shoot these in one club I'm in out to 1200 yards. When found on British long range match rifles, function of the false muzzle was essentially as a muzzle protector - used to prevent muzzle wear from the loading and cleaning rods. Bullets were paper patched and a slip fit, no forcing requied.

Great idea, paper patch will do the trick as long as I clean between shots. Saskatchewan is home to long flat open spaces but only 1 range that could be shot at a 1000 yards. What size is your target and how do you score it?
 
I clean between shots with paper patched bullets. After firing I load powder, then a wad. I then wipe the bore above the wad, then load. We shoot on the standard NRA full-bore targets, 5 for a bull and v-bull for tie breaking. These I presume are the same as DCRA use for full-bore rifle.

I am a bit late to the game. I am interested in the Rigby project, but I can't open any of the picture attachments. I'd be grateful if you could help me out.
