Canik TP9SFX - Any Range reports and pics

It is my understanding that the SF does not have a decocking mechanism and that there are aftermarket options available for the stock sights on the SF model. I believe M&P for the front, and a glock sight for the rear.

The de-cocker is no problem at all. Don't shy away from a good deal on the TP9SA. I have shot this in competition and practice. After drawing and racking hundreds of times I have never had an accidental de-cocking or have ever seen or heard of a person doing so. It takes a very deliberate effort to actuate. Haters from the concealed carry groups stating personal opinion, not fact, have given this urban legend status.

I found a guy who makes Kydex competition holsters for the SFx. I am going to buy it from him with a BOSS Plus Belt attachment for competitions I want go into this year. Guess I will be forced to go Open though. I will get my ass handed to me by STI's and Tanfoglios lol.

Just picked up a TP9SA for myself last month and have really been enjoying it. Put about 300 rounds through it so far. I had lots of FTF and FTE with steel cased ammo, but zero malfunctions of any kind with anything brass. Very capable little shooter, more accurate than I am and the trigger is a delight. I find my groupings to be slightly left and up from my point of aim but this could absolutely be user error. I posted in this thread about grip size and I can now say that the grip is very comfortable with the small inserts for a someone with small hands like myself. I haven't tried the bigger backstrap and don't intend to. The holster that comes with the gun is adequate but I have reservations about the SERPA retention system; I will have to spend a lot more time drawing and dry firing at home before I will consider using it on the range. As some people have mentioned, with SERPA holsters one's finger ends up unnervingly close to the trigger guard on activation of the button. I am thinking about modifying the holster somehow to allow the button to be depressed with my finger higher up on the slide. Anyone tried anything like that with their SERPAs?
 
Probably the best thing to do with Serpa-style holsters is to throw them away. Next would be to cut out the entire retention part so you don't need to press anything to get the gun out.

Try resting the bottom of the grip on a bench or rest of some sort. Take your time sighting, and ease that trigger back. See how those groups compare with shooting freehand.
 
I've seen a couple of threads on here about the screws/threads etc for the mounting plates not being the greatest quality....anyone run into that.
I am interested in getting 9 with a red dot but have been sort of thinking of the P320 that comes with the Romeo sight already mounted. (I'm all about easy;) )

It's a competition holster for the SFx. All in I think it was around $140USD. It's awesome.
 
The mag shown in the pics would make the gun to tall for IDPA as it would not fit in the IDPA box. I suspect it might be to tall for IPSC as well.I know Canik makes mags makes without the extension on the bottom that would reduce the guns overall height and it then would certainly work for IDPA.

The only issue I have heard from reading posts on the American forums is broken strikers. I have heard the same thing about the Walther as well so it just maybe internet banter. I am going to source strikers and slide stops for my Walthers though, just in case. It might be wise for anyone owning the Canik to do some preemptive sourcing as well.
