What do you guys think of these, as in it’s hard to see in pictures but they are pretty wavy, think they are safe to fire? And also some have that weird crimp ring around them. What can cause that?
I did not load these, just wanna know if you guys think they are safe or what your opinions are.

Thanks.

There is a ring around the case where the expander stopped expanding the case.

And a ring around the case at the base of the seated bullet.

Both rings have to do with how small in diameter the case was sized, the larger diameter of the expander and larger diameter of the bullet.

What this could mean is these cases were size with a under size die, meaning the cases were reduced .001 to .002 more in diameter than a standard die.

When you use mixed brass or range pickup brass this smaller diameter die ensures the case will have a tight grip on the bullet.

I have a under sized die and you normally see these marks on the cases that have thicker brass. If these cases were a old pair of blue jeans two sizes too smLee U Carbide Small Base Sizing Dieall this effect would be called 'midriff bulge'.

And I also would think twice before shooting someone else's reloads.

These cutaway .45 ACP cases below show that the case is expanded deeper than necessary for the 185gr bullet on the right.

These dies undersize brass between .002" and .003" smaller than other Lee Carbide Sizing dies.

These came from one of the site sponsors.. about 60-70% look similar but these were only some of the worst ones.

Sorry I thought as this was in the reloads section "a friend" had made them.
I would be on the phone to the seller and be asking WTF?
I still wouldn't shoot them.

Besides not shooting them, can you maybe enlighten me on what can cause this? And how unsafe this can be.

It looks like the case was somehow sized to small and not all the way down OR they used the wrong sized bullet and when they seated it that it stretched out the top and compressed the bottom a bit.
Pull some apart and measure case length, bullet diameter, case diameter...well everything against SAAMI specs.

If your talking about the marked ring in brass about 65% of the way up the brass I have seen that plenty....didn't like the looks of one of the other shells in the picture with the fewest shells. If you bought these from a site sponsor what were they sold as????

They all look good to me. Shoot them.

1) Federal brass has a mid case cannelure (so do some other brands).

2) The coke bottle or wasp waist effect is normal for Dillon dies, it provides good case tension.

3) The ring at the case mouth is from the crimp die.

Don't waste your time pulling anything apart, shoot them. If you don't want to I'm more than willing, lol.

This is why I shoot factory or load my own as I know what I have. Bought factory reloads once....last winter...price of new factory loads today has dropped lower than buying reloads last year. I would call the supplier and voice your concerns....other than that shoot factory or what you have loaded/witnessed loaded yourself. JMHO

There's nothing to make right. The ammo looks good. You're freaking out over nothing Chicken Little.

SHOOT THEM!!!

So why is everyone other then you saying not to shoot them? And I’m not freaking out just seeing if they can safely be shot without damage to the gun. I think it’s a fair question as I have never seen ammo look like this.

And another difference is, everyone else provided examples and reasoning on why not to shoot them. You on the other hand just say shoot. I’m just getting into reloading and want to learn what is what properly. Hence asking if this is normal or not. Even though it wasn’t loaded by me.
