My TULA 1939 MOSIN PEM SNIPER

I thought I would share an interesting Tula 1939 Mosin Ex-sniper.

I found an original 1939 Scope locally in the Kootenays BC, when I was Living there and ordered the scope mount from Kyrgyzstan or Usbekistan about 8 years ago.
Had the local gunsmith put it together.
I Haven't Shot it since it was put together so I cant comment on accuracy till I find some time off work to try it out.
Its kind of a bubba, but its as close as I could come to holding an all-original.

Did you have a problem with the bases that are available having holes drilled in them that did not line up with the 6 original holes in the receiver?
Have seen that before.

They should sell a base with no holes in it so they can be drilled in the right place.

Were your holes welded over?

(or is this the rifle with the side mount vs the one with the 3 on each side that I thought it was?)

Nice rifle! More interesting than the many many PU rifles.
 
The Ex-sniper had plugged holes The gunsmith re drilled and tapped them and then welded the base on because it was slightly not holding perfectly solid

It's a side Mount with windage screws.

I am trying to install a PU scope and the mount bracket does not match up with the holes in the rifle.
I'm still trying to work out a solution that I can install it without redrilling anything.
 
I have the last year model Tula 42 PEM but no base ,scope or rings.I read somewhere that the Tula mount was not pinned? Mine shoots 3/4" with irons at 100 yards.........no not one shot groups but three with PRC MG ball.
 
^^^^ thats pretty good with iron sights, mine will do that with four shots many times, but there always a flier in the five shot group.

With the Mosin , groups tend to expand as the barrel heats up. The older 1930's Hex 91/30's I had 4 ,would all shoot between 1.25-1.50 Probably helps when there is no war going on for QC in manufacturing guns.I think in 42 the Tula plant had Nazis on the front door and guns going out the back door to the defenders.With the Tula and Ishy side mt PEM the mounts had different hole spacing and the latter also pinned theirs from what I recall?
