Very KOOL cartridge - Need to see Pics - My Buddy just had one built on a HVA action with a Wildcat stock and a Benchmark # 2 barrel - Hes got to shoot it yet ! RJ

I shot his rifle yesterday with a load of RL22 pushing a Horn 143 ELDX at 2936 FPS avg - The 3 shots i fired went into .361 ! Nice Shooter . RJ

I was going to pick a couple boxes of the HSM factory ammo which is lapua brass loaded with 140 bergers.

Unless they changed brass manufactures the last stuff I bought said winchester on the head stamp.

Right on. I just sent a Tikka donor up to Corlanes last week for a rebarrel to 6.5 PRC. Think 6.5-284 ballistics in a RCM casing, I have a pile of 143 ELDX too

This should be an excellent build Mark, what barrel ?


Im in the process of looking for donor rifle myself.

I kept hearing that only Push Feed can be used for long range. I may now consider to add another 6.5x284 with old Mauser 98 action or Win 70

I put a #3 fluted on my 28 Nosler and I’m really happy with it, I’m just looking for a donor Kimber Montana 8400 wsm to build one on !

That should be very nice, any timeline on the availability of brass or factory ammo ?

Brass is already floating around up here. Haven't seen any 6.5 PRC ammo yet but probably before spring

I'm building it on a tikka action so the SA in a long action is irrelevant to me. I looked at the 6.5 cm and I really don't see the appeal in it.

The 6.5-284 in the Tikka action will be a Great build and Superior performance over the 6.5 CM too ! What stock you going with OR keeping a factory one ? RJ

For now I have the factory stock and it is fine but I'm thinking of setting it in a wildcat.

Hello, so I'm putting together a semi lightweight 6.5-284 Norma. Rifle will be used as an all around hunting rifle. Just looking at anyone's personal experience hunting with this round. Bullets you used, powder, or even factory loaded. Just mostly curious on overall thoughts in general.

So what brand and weight & lenght barrel ? RJ

I'm sure I had that in one of my previous posts on this thread but if not... it's #2 benchmark finished at 24" and fluted and bead blasted to flatten the finish.
