BCL 102 barrels

Okay lets say I lower my expectations, because from what I can tell those barrels are going to have to be imported and made to order, and I'd probably have to send them my bolt for it to be headspaced

lets say 1 moa out to 500 or something?

I'm hearing stories of 4 moa at 100m with factory barrel so I'm hoping to get something better than that lol

I wouldn't call this 4 MOA...top is surplus, bottom is the Federal

I posted a review of the bcl 102 with a ballistic advantage barrel. I've got great results. Another review was also posted on here by another guy using the same barrel, his review is why I bought the barrel in the first place. Factory hornady 140grn shoots between 3/4 and 1 1/4 moa. Handloads are shooting much better. Though I'm loading down from.max, so 800m might not be as good as a max load through a bolt gun.

$350 for the barrel, gas block and tube from Saskatoon gun works.

that federal is grouping nice.

I guess giving a distance measurement with moa does sound silly. I was thinking more along the lines of if the bullet destabilizes downrange and the group opens more and more at distance ( not talking about going trans-sonic ). Bad barrels can cause that, no?

My bcl loved the 168 gmm. I’m waiting for my scope to arrive but I shot mine with a aimpoint at 100m and it printed 1.5” group of 15 rounds then opened up to 2” at 30 rounds. I was pretty surprised at that. The only mods I’ve done is the Gisselle trigger and raptor charging handle. Once my scope arrives I’ll try my handloads with 178 eld-x but I have a feeling I should just stock up on 168 smk and try to duplicate the gmm load

well at the very longer ranges you have to deal with crossing the sound barrier as the bullet slows down before impact, that can cause issues, yes thats true, although I have never experienced it and I dont know how to deal with that, but the prs guys here do, though at the very long ranges here in BC air density and humidity variations would have a greater impact on the projectile than that sound barrier.

Otherwise if you are still supersonic in velocity you should never ever see tumbling, if you do, you have a twist rate issue, bad rifling i.e. a break in the rifling, pitting in the barrel due to corrosion, damaged crown, or an overcleaned chamber

that was the 20 incher right?

Yes the issue would be caused by horrid rifling, as the twist is 1:10 and that is more than sufficient to stabilize a 175gr, from what some people are saying though the stock barrel does not seem so bad. So I dont think it can have rifling so bad that it cannot stabilize bullets

I am really tempted to get a BLC 102 barrel from International Barrels when they bring them to market. Their website says coming soon. I'm definitely going to try their 19" Myers/Steacy profile on the MD SLR.

i got crap accuracy with 175g fold medal match. have loaded up a box of 168 g over varget to test. had to seat the bullet deep to not jam it into the rifling that i couldnt get close to max load. fingers crossed 168s shoot well.

If you're going to rebarrel, I'd go with a match barrel for precision shooting. Otherwise, the bcl barrel will be more than adequate.
