NEED YOUR MENTIRING AND EXPERTICES:Dillon RL 550

Thanks a lot and really appreciate everyone's feedback!!!

- for sure will need to buy the 9mm conversion kit part #20127
- for sure will need to buy the dies set.... looking RCBS carbide 9mm dies set #20515 (correct me if I am wrong here, thanks)

- not sure if need to buy spare parts
- not sure if need to buy the powder fail safety kit for the existing powder measure

- maybe buying from ebay the CNC's aluminum color toolhead

+ 10 on using Dillon dies. While you’re at, order up a Dillon 9mm case gauge to check your loaded ammo.

Personally, I don’t use a powder check - I have a LED light that shines right into the case and do a visual check for powder on each one prior to sitting the bullet on top.
I would recommend the low primer alarm if you don’t have one, but again if you are paying attention to your process, you don’t technically need one of those either.

I have done all those it really helps especially the light shining right into the case as it's being filled..

- Needing the conversion kit goes without saying.

- Try to stay away from seat/crimp combo dies. Seat and crimp separately.

- Don't bother with coloured tool heads from Ebay.

To be honest you're putting the cart before the horse. Get the press up and running by purchasing only the necessary required equipment. All those options/frill aren't going anywhere, you can spend your money on those later.

Discussed the slop I had in the handle and they agreed to ship the parts - no hardship in taking it apart. Should be done every couple of years in hindsight ...

I am!!
I guess from the excitement and the joy of really able to start made me spin!!! That is why I needed a mentor like all of you to make realize what are the MAYOR and what are the minor!!

Will be working this weekend on my press!!

I did the same thing from day one.

Try it first and see how it works, you may find that you dont need any parts or the powder fail safety kit.

I found them terrific for support would recommend them over just about any other manufacturer because of it
