New Norinco M305

Its indeed MIM. Oh well I had full intentions to replace the bolt in this gun with USGI. Just I didn't think id be doing it this soon. Still annoying. Who ever is the importer for this gun should be issuing a recall.

Apparently importer is North Sylva. They seem to be taking their time to be giving decent service as well... If I were you I would wear 2 condoms using it as is.

Stay safe

I have one the same. The only markings on the outside of the receiver are:
"M305"
"Cal 7.62"
"P14####"

It was packed with an inspection slip dated Nov 2014. So it appears the year has been shorted to 2 digits in the serial numbers.

95 rounds through to date (20 150gr Federal blue box SP & 75 surplus Federal M80) with no issues. Bolt appears to have good contact on both lugs.

Mine is also stamped the same and failed around the 140ish mark, can't remember the count exactly.
For what its worth my M305 was looked over and confirmed decent bolt contact before I started using it.
Primarily fed it factory Federal SMK 168's

I'll add that the bolt provided with mine is not MIM. Mine is in the P1410xx range. I don't believe there's been enough information yet to determine if this was due to a clean switch to MIM or luck of the draw.

I've removed the bolt and installed a bolt from a 2007 Polytech that a very kind CGN'er donated to me. I've lapped the bolt and its fitted perfectly now I will be taking it to the gunsmith tomorrow morning for him to check the headspace. Man I tell yea, disassembling these bolts is super easy. Getting them back together without a bolt assembly tool is unreal difficult.

You have a new M305 that pings when you close the bolt. I have one and have never heard the ping. Mine is mounted in a Sage stock and shoots 1-2 moa with carefully loaded ammo. Then again I cant hear worth a darn, what is this ping and how important is it?

Not enter sure how important it is. Just a standard Springfield softly pings, a Loaded pings louder than the Standard. The National Match pings really loud. The Super match is like holy smokes it pings if I touch it with my wedding ring. It sound like a tunning fork.

Mine's a shorty 2014 with a proper (not MIM) Norinco bolt. Only have about 70 rounds through it so far, but it seems very accurate right out of the box.

I had to remove metal on the op rod and under the breech where it was rubbing, but that's about it. Barrel indexed properly, and it pings.

added: mine is in .308 Win, not 7.62, fwiw...
