Scope takes the "fun" away? Irons funner? Red dot?

I just got a Styrka S7 series 1-6x30 scope for my AR and i love it! the second focal plane illuminated recital is very fine and crisp. I haven't mounted it yet but i'll let you know how it works out. i have a set of 45 degree offset irons as well.

Some guns are an absolute joy to shoot with iron sights. I'm talking the likes of Swiss Arms or an Anschutz 1827f

Absolutely. I shoot my diopter model Swiss arms at 300 every time I bring it along, just a joy to use.

Shoot with a GOOD set of irons (Diopter/Centra/Anschutz) and you might revise your opinion. Unless shooting past 150m, my choice is Diopter Sights. Luckily my eyesight allows for this to be possible. Some folks are not as lucky.

Shoot from unconventional positions, against the clock, at moving targets, or low/no light then tell me how well irons work for you. They're fun but inferior.

Its inevitable with changing eye sight. I went from irons, to red dot to scope. That said, diopters seem to be friendlier than irons.

Peep sights are the solution for older eyes. If I am using regular iron sights I wear an old pair of glasses that allows me to focus on the front sight but leaves the target fuzzy.
The centre of a fuzzy target is the same as the centre of a clear target.

Hunting doesn't count then eh? I'll mention it to the ELK in my deepfreeze.

Can you quote where i said that? I never said it couldn't be done in the situations I listed above. However success in those situations is much higher when using an appropriate optic or reddot.

You need to provide some real evidence for a claim like that, I think. Most of the world's military members run irons and are perfectly capable of succeeding with them. Red dots and other similar optics systems have been known to fail in adverse conditions; something that an iron sight will never do.

Telescopes will obviously be superior to either of the above but are for a different purpose than iron sights and as such aren't really comparable in such a discussion, in my opinion.
