For some reason I like .380 ACP pistols.

What are the smallest legal pistols in Canada?

My guesses are: Restricted the 1911 style .380s and Prohibited the AMT Backup.

I take it you mean non-prohib (prohibs are legal too). My PP in .380 is my favorite followed by my Browning BDA. I had a ppk in .380, and it was just plain nasty to shoot so I sold it. Too many hammer bites on my big paws. (I just noticed it up for sale this past couple of weeks)

I have a browning 1911 in 380 and I love it. Not the smallest gun in that caliber I would imagine but it sure looks tiny next to a regular sized 1911!

I have a wartime production FN 1922 that was rebarrelled in 380 to make it restricted. It's a pretty slim and compact gun. It's also pretty snappy to shoot.

That AMT Backup is a really neat little gun. Wish i could own one. Now that must be a handful.

Not sure how it compares to the Browning 1911 380 but the restricted Beretta 86 is probably pretty close. Getting pricy though.

If i had a 12.6 I would definitely also want a P230/2

Had one. Sold it for $50. What a piece of #### that thing was.

Well I would have paid you a $100 if I could have.

What were the issues? Galling and reliability issues like other AMTs of the day? I have never seen a review of that gun. Must of kicked well.

Couldn't make it through a single magazine without failure. Bad quality as well. I only paid $100 for it and I was out at the range with a buddy, by the time we were done shooting I was so sick of it i sold it to him for $50 on the spot. He replaced some springs which helped things but it still jammed regularly.

Interesting. I have not heard good things about AMTs of that era. Too bad. That looks like a great design for a compact gun.

From what I have read it is indeed a dice roll regarding the reliability of AMT Backups.

Mine has been very reliable with ball ammo and I keep it greased with Red N Tacky on the rails.

Here are the .380s with a 1911 for size comparison.

If there is a .380 in Canada that we can own (I am a 12(6)) that is smaller than the Backup I'd like to add it to my collection.

It's a shame too, it was a pretty cool looking pistol. Mine had wood grips, kinda reminded me of a miniature 1911.

I had a FN browning 1922, that was probably my smallest of all calibers.

I had one in .380 and one in 32 acp, they were identical unless you measured the inner diameter of the barrel. The 380 was restricted and the 32 acp was a prohib.

also had a 1910 in .380, MUCH smaller and prohib

Curious what exists for us mere mortals that only have rpal? I own a FN1922, CZ38, and just purchased a FEG 37M. It looks like the only one in production today is the browning 1911-380?
