BCL102 dust cover issue

Did they put on a dust cover that fits or simply remove the ill fitting cover and leave the ejection port open?

The cover fit perfectly fine. Whether they did an adjustment to the ejection port or used a different sized cover is beyond me. All I know is it covered the ejection port fully and it did not pop open under any circumstance until I racked the bolt.

Here's a picture I zoomed in and cropped to give you an idea. If I still had the rifle in my possession I'd take a better one but this is all I got for now.

I wish the stripped receiver set didnt have that ambi bolt release... :puke:

Like a mole on a hot girl.

I wish they stopped adding idiotic features that nobody cares about and made a rifle that actually accepts after maker parts without a damn dremel

everyone changes:
trigger
handguard
grip
charging handle
stock

make a rifle that accepts these changes

I just seen on BCL Instagram they will upgrade even more crap that no one cares about.

Gen 3's are around the corner.... lol....Higher MSRP to cover for the more expensive crap they are adding...LMFAO and what a stupid name. :puke:

Glad to see they used Gen 1 and 2 owners as beta testers ... :)

"In March sometime, we will transition to the BCL 102 “Catamount” which will ship with a trigger upgrade and a new stock, grip and ambi charging handle. The Catamount will sell for slightly more and the Catamount options will be available to current 102 owners at a discount leaving little price difference. "

Yes they finally gave some backstory to the Catamount and the current 102s are not in fact Catamounts... unless you spend more lol. From the teaser pics they've posted it looks like the Catamount is basically going to be a DMR version. I'd imagine they'll sell both versions still though.

according to something from instagram, they're rolling out a "gen 3" aka catamount in march with a new trigger, grip, stock and chanrging handle that's going to cost more... These BCL guys can't leave well enough alone.

Lol a dust cover that pops open if your rifle gets bumped, great "feature"
so if you were to trip and fall or something, the feature that's supposed to keep the dirt and mud out of your gun pops open so you have to spend the next 20 mins cleaning mud out of the action. Boy oh boy what a good feature

It's an "feature rich" and "organic"!!! That should cost double!!

Glad to hear it's been fixed.

I'm fine with it. My other AR308 that has the ambi bolt release costs $6100. They did an ok job on that and it's a nice option.

A decent trigger would be good. Could care less about the pistol grip and stock since I'll be changing those anyways. The name does suck.

Although it looks like they are naming their piston rifles the "badger". So I guess it could be even worse...

I contacted BCL last night about the dust cover and today they replied saying they can send me a new dust cover but it still won't cover the whole opening, "the manufacturer had trouble with them"
Not quite the response I was hoping for. For what it's worth they'l also send me a new hand guard with a functional QD point if I mail back my "Gen 1" hand guard

Interesting so I wonder if they did change something on the upper ejection port area then? The dust cover was definitely not an issue on the one I had the other day. I've been following all the issues and made sure to look at it. The trigger guard also didn't appear to go as far into the magwell as others have posted pictures of and shown how they had to file theirs down. However one issue was still clearly present and that was the aftermarket charging handle still didn't fit out of box.

I'd be very interested to get a measurement of the dust cover and ejection port opening on that rifle to compare to mine and see what changed

I won't have it back until at least mid month. Suggest this to me again once you see me posting my build pictures and I'd gladly take the time to compare some things.

So is it the upper or the port door that’s out of spec? They should replace the upper with the right opening, not give another door that doesn’t solve anything.

I guess we will have to wait for someone with a properly fitting dust cover to take some measurements and see what's different

If the only thing wrong with the rifle (when i receive it) is port cover i would consider that a huge win. My main concern is the function, due to issues i have had in past with NEA products.

Jeezus...all over the place. My dust cover fits perfect, no left over opening on either side, but i got hit with the trigger guard that protrudes into the magwell and makes mags fit like an interference fit. First time it happened, i had to split the two halves and force the mag out by pressing it down out of the lower....

whatever, if thats all the issues i have i'll be fine. I've mirror finished the sear surfaces and much of the creepy, gritty feel is gone, still a long pull but much improved.

Same here dust cover fit but had to Dremel the trigger guard area smooth so didn't need a vice to get a mag out was easier than your method lol.
