My friend has a prohibited S&W 639 that I want to buy off of him so I want to get a longer barrel 1/4 " make it 4- 1/4 " and get it registered as a restricted.
Any body know where I can get a longer barrel

Have a smith or verifyer re-measure the barrel carefully....very many of these are long enough to make it possible to have the re registered and restricted. I've seen 2 39-2's done this way. And you don't get the ugly protuberance ! Good luck! Failing that you will be trying to bring a barrel out of the states. Nice shooters. The first semi i ever fired was a 39-2. I'd like a 4 gen model
 
Unless you get wildly lucky and find and old Barsto or Jarvis barrel there's not much you can do. Contact ' Bits of Pieces ' , they do a fair number of prohib to restricted conversions. They might be able to help.
