Bullpup stocks are prohibited devices. Bullpups are not. Know the difference!
PROHIBITED DEVICES
Former Prohibited Weapons Order, No. 9
1. Any electrical or mechanical device that is designed or adapted to operate the trigger mechanism of a semi-automatic firearm for the purpose of causing the firearm to discharge cartridges in rapid succession.
2. Any rifle, shotgun or carbine stock of the typeknown as the “bull-pup” design, being a stock that, when combined with a firearm, reduces the overall length of the firearm such that a substantial part of the reloading action or the magazine-well is located behind the trigger of the firearm when it is held in the normal firing position.
bullpup stock prohibited? Why? OAL requirements??
(this is a legitimate ask, not being sarcastic)
The details ....
Huh...
So, I remember when the ZK-22 first came out (back in the day when the original RJ team had a TV show and the owner wasn't in jail), and it was a straight up 10/22 conversion stock, that was NEVER going to make it to Canada.
Fast forward, and Joe owns and runs the shop now (under a different name), and Aklys is gaining a better rep than RJ ever had. Which makes sense, because Joe was the only one in that outfit with any brains.
Watching that video, it looks like Joe has done his research and figured out a way to get the ZK into Canada. They're building the whole thing from the ground up with a dedicated receiver, which in theory should make it legal. He spoke pretty clearly to making it "Canadian market" friendly, and Joe's no dummy, so whatever they've done, it's at least a 50/50, credible chance.
The main problem now is that in the interim, the Horse Police have f@cked us over on the 10/22 mags, which makes the whole platform, and all its derivatives, far less attractive.
No. Nothing to do with firearms. Stocks.oh wow.. thanks... but firearms that are bullpups from day 1 are ok.. wow.. silly law indeed.
I am impressed that Joe would put R&D money forward to include a small gun market like us.
He must have realized we are always interested in different types of firearms we can't get here.
it's not that of a small market tho... a NR bullpup 10-22 platform is gonna be like printing money IMO. Lotsa people are gonna want one including myself (can't ever have to many 10-22.
Honestly, I'm not so sure.
While the 10-22 remains popular, the type of buyer interested in a bullpup, is also the type of buyer that wants mag capacity, and the Horse Police have ruined that for the 10-22 platform.
Yes, they'll sell some, but I doubt they'll fly off the shelves in large numbers.
Mind, Aklys is a small outfit, so even a few hundred sold will probably justify it for them. I hope Joe recoups his money on this, he seems like a decent guy, and him and the guys in the shop have been put through the wringer through no fault of their own.
oh wow.. thanks... but firearms that are bullpups from day 1 are ok.. wow.. silly law indeed.
