...okay so now i'm stuck...i need advice on husqvarna 1600's in 30-06...
...i have never gotten my son to show interest in hunting...i have a very skillful hunter in one of my daughters but not my son...until this christmas
...i bought both sons-in-laws le no 4's for gifts this year...scoured them...rebuilt some parts...churchill sporters...and worked up some loads...they came here and reloaded a whack of ammo and they are now really happy with their rifles
...my son told me many years ago to not buy him any guns so i took him at his word...now that he's out on his own he's hinted that he might want to go hunting with me some time...and then at christmas he said that he was upset that i bought rifles for his brothers-n-law but not him...you could have knocked me over with a feather (i bought his sister a .308 a decade ago)
...here's the thing
...any gun's a personal choice...it needs to fit and be of the right calibre
...i want a rifle of high quality but i'm not buying him a new rifle...he works and can do that on his own
...so i'm thinking a classic...a le would be fine but he works sometimes in the bc interior and i think something with a bit more punch might be better...'06 can be loaded light...but i like heavy bullets and a 30-06 in a 220 grain slug is pretty formidable
...so what about husky 1600's...that's my top limit and it's a classic and something to hang on to the even if it doesn't fit the best so may serve him well for now
...any problems with these? ...parts available? ..accuracy? ...reliability?
...in the end jealously can be a good thing i guess
(or perhaps a 9.3 x 57 is good enough in big bear country for defence? ...i already reload for that)
