Mossberg Patriot 30-06 Question

Hey all,
Im about to buy a Mossberg Patriot in 30-06 and Im wondering if there are iron sights I can buy seperatly for it. My eyes are still decent and although the Patriot comes with a nice vortex scope id like to have irons as well. Cant go wrong with Irons if your scope fails. And if there isnt a mossberg brand iron sight set maybe some one here could point me in the direction of a good set of aftermarket ones. Thanks for the help.

I have had a gunsmith add iron sights to a rifle for me before. It was around 120$ and i provided the sights as they did not have the ones I wanted. They dove tail cut the front sight onto the barrel and the rear sight was simply added to a 3/8 dove tail rail. They did an excellent job. Ill throw up a pic sometime in the near future.

Yeah i hear ya. Once you get a cut in the barrel you can add which ever style of front sight you want. You can also get sights that can be silver soldered on.

Brownells.com has a good selection of sights, these ones are from midway
 
Williams sets just require 4x 6/48 holes drilled and tapped, if you provide them, should not be expensive to install.
What a lot of rifles come with OEM.

Yes its a used rifle. Im getting a deal on it and to be honest trying to find one here from a dealer is almost impossible with sights anyways. Thats why im looking for a place in Canada that sells them or afternarket sights similar to them.

Best to contact your nearest gunsmith. He'd likely already have a set that could be fitted.

Hmmm, I have owned my Mossberg Patriot Marinecoat .270 for 2 years and it has put 2 deer in the freezer...it still looks like new and I LOVE IT! Did your rifle do the same? For $400 bucks and a nice Nikon, you can't go wrong, pal.
 
Mossberg makes good rifles...




But only in 22lr and only for about 30 years...quality went down hill since the 60's.
 
I dont want to get into the whole, "this rifle is bad, this rifle is good" arguments. Im looking for iron sight options. If you dont like mossberg please dont comment because thats not the topic here.
