The fault with pre 64 Model 70's is the stock... it was never meant for scope use... fantastic for iron sights though.

I love my Pre-64 300 H&H. Congrats on joining the club!

If you can't figure out imgur then send me a PM with your email address and I can put yours up through my account. If it wasn't a 300 H&H I'd tell you to pound sand, btu now you're a part of the family.

Here's some nice ones.
I hear Guntech with the stock design point but with low power and the right rings they tune just fine.

I have found that out but I have a 1.75-4X scope on mine with medium rings (bolt clearance) and it works for me. My eyes are too old for open sights now.

I can't put pics up

People have been posting pictures on forums since the 1990's.

Go to imgur.com, upload your picture. If you have to, they even let you drag the picture onto the website.

Paste the link it generates for you in your message, there's even a button that helps.

How is it even a question at $1300? If the condition is good and it's unboogered its easily a $1500 rifle, maybe more.

I think CanadaBoy owes 6.5x55swm a bottle!

Dennis : In my experience I've found the NRA low comb and high comb pre-64 M70 stocks to be the very best. Not only for scope use but a near perfect fit for managing recoil on even the heaviest kicking calibers like 338 WM and 375 H&H.

On both low and high comb pre-64 stocks I mount the scopes low just so the bolt clears. . Nice and trim and easy to mount, eye relief is right on. . Spend the time and positon the scope correctly and there's nothing much better. .

What's not to like with a top of the line Leupold scope on a pre-64 Model 70. . I own 15 pre-64 M70's and like everyone of them. . They are my go to hunting rifle. . :)
