First time I have thought of this, and definitely need some advice and input.

I received a really nice savage 114 in 270 as a trade. I would like to know how simple, or difficult, it would be to rebarrel in 9.3x62.

The barrel on the savage is 22.5 I believe. There are some e.r. shaw barrels in tradex for 269.00 (in the white, so need finishing, i.e. extra expense), but they are 26" barrels.

Please give me some ideas....

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I have 9.3x57 and 9.3x62 both good cartridges. The barrel length on the CZ 550 full stock 9.3x62 is 20" from the factory. You could make your barrel length wat ever you feel comfortable.

Would probably be easier to install a Savage prefit barrel that's set up for a barrel nut, unless a gunsmith is going to do everything, then I suppose it doesn't matter. I have a 24" 9.3x62 barrel on a Marlin XL-7, which is similar to a Savage, and find it feels just a touch nose heavy. Very steady off hand though.

Thanks! Where did you get your barrel please.

A rebore is also an option - Ron Smith is the usual guy people mention for reboring.

Yeah, I went that route, went with gain twist rifling, was around $450 and half a year, no regrets, but as the OP has a savage (barrel nut) he may have other options.

I'd go looking for a Savage Pre-fit barrel. A person could always keep the 270 barrel and have a switch barrel rifle, if one was inclined to do such a thing. Switching barrels on a Savage is a pretty simple operation. Jerry at Mystic Precision would be the guy I would call about such a thing.

why not just sell the Savage and buy a rifle chambered in 9.3x62? Trade Ex has many

He may have a preference for stainless, or like the barrel nut interchangability. Or just like savages, but I'm with you. Or a 9.3x57 from tradex in more of a lightweight or scout format would be a cool build.

Cheapest option is probably to sell what you've got and buy a 9.3x62 from tradex.

A new barrel with run around $500 + install (assuming you don't have the tools to do it yourself).

If you did go the route of the Shaw barrel from tradex, you could always get it cut down to 20 or 22".

Thanks for the great comments. I am leaning towards selling the 270, and buying a 9.3x62. The cost to rebore was what you have been saying, roughly 450 to 500, plus shipping both ways. The savage pre fit barrels are around 500. As I dont really have the urge to keep the 270 barrel, I don't see it making sense for me. Thanks again to everyone for their opinions, and referrals.
