Mosin nagant stripped receiver

I was just wondering about stripped mosin nagant receivers. The serial number is on the barrel but if you remove the barrel would that create a problem legally because the receiver doesn't have a serial number?
I'm just bored and got thinking about it. I couldn't find anything with my searches. Maybe you guys could help

Don't believe the placement of the serial number is the issue. The receiver is the firearm with or without a serial number.

Is it an issue that the receiver doesn't have a serial number if the barrel is removed

I don’t think a serial number is required on non restricted firearms anymore with the demise of the LGR.

Which makes it the issue. The Finns went so far as to serialize their capture receivers for some reason. That's why in most cases there is a serial number on the receiver. Luckily, back in the day of registration they didn't insist that the receivers had to be serializes or have one of those dysfunctional stickers applied. Mind you, many of the import markings on the barrel but I've noticed on a few that the import markings on on the receiver.

You can always engrave your own S/N on the receiver
