Challenging Target Ideas (card splitting)

fastened an axe head to a stump cutting edge foreward. made holders for clay birds on eithers side. were using .50cal muzzle loaders challenge split the ball and break both clays. hours of fun

Lots of good ideas posted, with a .22 I like shooting golf balls. Toss a handful out at 15-20yrds and chase them out to 100yrds, I try to not let them stop rolling. With the gravel and uneven ground it's a challenge as they bounce all over the place, this is with a bolt action. Keeps you on your toes.

Kirsten Joy Weiss has a youtube channel where she shoots all kinds of stuff with a .22 that may give u ideas as well. Last one I watched she was shooting eggs at 300 yards. Enjoy.;)

She is shooting in those videos???? I never noticed, lol.

To keep with the thread question I like shooting thumbtacks and the cheap dollar store mints @50-80 yds

dirty bird targets are always fun if you shoot with friends.

I’ve never tried it, but as a kid I was told of someone who could light strike anywhere matches with a 22.

Did that once with a bb gun in my bedroom with a whole box of matches slid partially open. I couldn't believe I hit it. Left a big burnt spot on the wall that I had to hide from Mom and Dad....

We used to use rippled chips placed on tree branches at the camp. Iron sights at around 40 yards. It gets pretty competitive when the chips have taken a shot already and you are taking out pieces of chips still sitting on the tree boughs.

Nope, sorry, NOT happening! If I was there, it would be competitive all right. I would be faster than that bullet headed towards the chips in question. I have one very bad soft spot, and you found it!

A board / cardboard with a frame - elastic bands stretched from nails at the top and bottom, contain a paintball in each elastic band. 25 m? 50m? More?

I was at a pistol competition once, we were shooting the "rapid fire" portion of the ISSF Centre Fire match - shoot 5 shots, one at a time, to a target 25 m away, with the target turned towards to you for only 3 seconds. Woman in the next bay shot late and sliced the target in half through the 10 ring. Heckuva shot but no score 'cause it was late.

Lol you have to share a story now based on that response.

Nothing to share really. I just happen to have a soft spot for potato chips, and my belly shows..... If a bag is open around me, I will find it! Sometimes the other half even hides them from me if we are having company over so there will be chips for that time! Wanna really see my face when buddy starts a fire with nachos(cheese, cool ranch, taco, whichever)! True story, that is some great firesrarter, but sacrilege! They are loaded with oil. So shooting them would be tough for me.

I see the next Doritos Superbowl commercial coming together here on CGN.

My club has .22 Precision matches and we have a stage where we have to shoot 4 matchsticks and break them off completely and split a playing card. It’s at 25 yards and you have 10 shots. It’s gotten to the point where a lot of us clear the stage with boring regularity so I think we may have to change things up.

During our fun matches at BR50 cards are used.
A golf ball with an eye attached at 100 yards.
One of those orange balls that will absorb lots of punishment hung at 200 is a challenge . . . even more so when spinning.
Hits to the side will cause it to move more than the width of the ball sideways, and frontal hits allowed it to move similarly.
There was too much movement on a long string so the length was shortened. In two years the string has been cut three times.

-Shooting a golfball to a target
-paintballs on snow
-dollar store sidewalk chalk
-something you can't see through open sights, and take direction from a spotter(much trickier than it sounds)

...I have yet to try tannerite, but that seems like serious fun

Making things harder to shoot by putting further out, and continue until boring. Repeat.
