Does anyone have any news on when we should expect to see the Glock 19 Gen5 or the 19X in Canada?

I know I Run Guns can bring them in from the states, but only with the threaded barrel.

Wonder if Rampart can weigh in on this?

I know this was brought up at Shot Show this year.

The Gen 4 19 Canadian Edition is arriving soon, so a Gen 5 Canadian Edition is way off. I can't see a 19x any time soon either.

If you don't get one through IRG you will be waiting for a while. I asked about this in September, and decided that as much as I like the 19, I want a Gen 5, and don't want to wait, so I bought a 17 Gen 5.

You and me both, not interested in gen 4.

The very smart people at Glock do not discount the small, but lucrative Canadian market. Just as the thirst for G19's with a bit longer barrel to comply with the liberal socialist diversity paradise utopia, Glock must first catch up with production numbers of the new G19X. But Glock will put a bit longer barrel in the new G19X.

It might take a year, maybe less, but it will happen....!!!

That Glock 19X is a sweet piece of kit. Cant wait.

I'll be the jerk here. The G19x is a dumb idea. You gain NOTHING with a short slide on a tall frame. The only minor gain would be for CCW in appendix carry. If that is the case then run a stock 19 and get over it, or use a 19 with 17 mags and the grip sleeve.

All you need to do is wait for aftermarket Glock 17 gen 5 barrels to start trickling out.
Gen 5 Glock 17 barrels are interchangeable with the 19's.

They released the 19x for people who want a clone of the MHS submission... Has no other purpose. Don't get all riled up over it.

If you live in Canada short grips means nothing; who cares how it print inside your guncase! Full grip= more to hold on to. Glock 19's grip for me feels too short and uncomfortable. Sure there are people with smaller hands that like the grip, but for average size hands and up full grip wins.

I for one don't get the 19x. The appeal of the 19 to me is the shorter grip, not so much the shorter slide/barrel. Am i missing something?

I've actually changed my mind on the 19x. I personally like the shorter slide of the 19, but for the life of me just can not warm up to the grip length. The grip length of the 17/34 on the other hand I'm a big fan of.

Edit: I'd like to add that the short slide, long grip combo serves no real purpose, but that's true of the vast majority of gun designs if we're being honest with ourselves.

Let's all just remember one important things before the pitchforks come out, and people who like the 19X design begin getting lynched.

It's......okay......to have a.......different opinion.

Opinions not rooted in facts are worthless when discussing the merits of the design. The 19x serves almost no practical purpose.

Having read reviews from shooters better than I, the general consensus is that the 19X is a bit of a shooters gun. Slide tracks fast and flat, and the grip length gives added capacity (not in Canada) and makes manipulations easier than the 19. I think folks should reserve condemnation, unless they actually shoot the gun. As info, the PX4 storm has a G19 length slide and a full length grip and it shoots like a house on fire...

Love the size of the 19 but hated the short grip. Pinky felt like it wasn’t on the grip. Like the 17 grip. So G19x for me and maybe a gen 5 17 after we get ones that have the frame beveled to match the slide.

In the meantime I have my Walther PPQ pistols which are all around excellent. The gen5 and g19x are the first Glocks I’ve even considered after owning PPQ pistols.

^^^ That's how I see it with average to large hands myself
