Hi,

Looking to possibly put a mag kit on a Vanguard 300 Wby Mag, but they don't make one specifically for it. The overall screw to screw length of the floorplate is the same as my 30-06 so I know the mag kit will fit. Just not sure if the 300 WM magazine is just bigger in the feed lips for the belted case or if it has a little more length as well.

If anyone has one in 300 WM that can give me measurements, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Darren

Not long ago I acquired a pair of Wby Vanguards, with flame camo stocks, from a couple of site members. ;) Call them my flame throwers. One is in 270Win, the other in 300WM. Shortly there after I picked up a set of magazine conversion kits, by Legacy Sports, for each as well as a spare mag for each. I got these kits from a site sponsor, Prophet River Firearms. I plan to use the rifles as is for the time being but will eventually change over to use the magazine/clip kits. One kit, the magazines/clips specifically, is marked as being for the .270/.25-06/.30-06. The other, marked for the .300. The basic external measurements of one kit and spare mag appear to be the same as that of the second kit and it's spare mag. I'm assuming the differences are in the lips of and the feed plate.

Yep, that's what I thought. I have a 30-06 with the DBM kit and it isn't long enough...was assuming the 300WM kit would be the same OAL just with different feed. I will just stay with the floorplate.

It's one of those six of one, half dozen of the others things. I like having the mag for in and out of vehicles, but also like having the floorplate so you don't leave the mag sitting on the seat or have it fall out of your pocket.

One thing I did find playing with the 300 WBY is that it bottom loads from the floorplate easier than any other rifle I've tried it in. Perhaps it's because the massive cartridge fits from end to end...no room left to slop around :)

Thanks for your help.

cheers
Darren
