.41 Magnum Shooters?

you can get your 6 cut down to a 106mm by Murray Charlton, I'm pretty sure. Give him a shout, he is the guru of all things S&W. I have a couple with trigger jobs by him, and they are exquisite.

In the meantime, I came across a 657 that is 0.052" too short to be classified as "restricted", bahhhh! Easier to chop, I guess.

The Bisley was something I decided I wanted while in high school. Over 15 years went by, during which time I saw only a couple, and never when I had any disposable income. Then one day about five years ago it all came together.

The Contender was an entirely different story. A friend of mine died rather suddenly, and I went to help sort his collection after it was finally released to the executor. I was surprised to learn that among the pieces was this Contender, disassembled and in a ziplock bag. Some parts were known to be missing, but it came with 2 barrels, a 7mm TCU and this .41 Mag, both Super 14". He had never mentioned it, but as a retired gunsmith I'm sure he had stuff he came into rather accidentally and never thought about. Anyway, I was allowed to take it for a reasonable sum and with a couple of months of looking I had the parts replaced and shot it last fall exactly one time before the snow got too heavy. I am considering having the .41 cut to 10", seems a little pointless to have it as a 14".

The brass mould is a .41-258 from MP Moulds in Slovenia. I want it to be my primary bullet, but both guns have really tight throats and will not take a bullet sized .410". Haven't decided how I'm going to handle that. In the meantime, I have some hard cast from Bullet Barn that have a shorter nose and don't extend into the throat. Also, I was at WSS Calgary's second last day, when they were really down to the dregs and oddballs. Guess what, among the oddballs was 400 .410" 200 grain JHP bullets for $5.20 per hundred! Also a set of Lee 7mm TCU dies for $9!! The Contender will have a warm and happy spring on the merit of that closeout.

Order a LEE .409" sizer, run your bullets through that, and I bet you'd be on your way.. only other option is ream open the throats. Clean them all up to fit your .410's or .411's (whatever they may be) That'll do it too.

BTW; beauty Ruger! Only way it could be better is if it was 3-screw ; )

Great story on the TC and a nice pair of guns, Battlerifle! I agree with whiskeywillow, get the Lee sizer and run your slugs through that, probably a simple cheaper fix than reaming. I'm a bit surprised the Bosley is tight as well, I've had a couple older Rugers over the years (can't believe I sold the flat top)...and they all seemed to run a hair over, rather than under. Even my GP100 was uniformly .002 over on average

Now I happen to like the 41. Contenders I am a junkie. I don't have a 41 barrel. Cutting a 14 super, evil man. Nice contender.

I bought a Model 57 with a 6.5" barrel from the Calgary Shooting Center. Got 3 boxes of Remington High Terminal Performance in 210 grain soft points.

At $75 a box of 50.

Gun is in good shape other than felt from the wood case sticking to one side of the grip. So I haven't bothered to shoot it.

I do have 12/6 if anyone want to sell a 4" version.....

Years ago, I purchased and imported a S&W 57 (nickel plated) from Minnesota. It was originally carried by a Sherrif in Minnesota. Divorce sale forced me to sell and a U.S. Sherrif bought it back and exported it.

I have 4 41's!
Love the cartridge and the revolvers.
I have 2 New Model Blackhawks with 4 5/8" barrels, one in blued and one in stainless. With my larger hands, I put on extended grips from Texas Grips on them. Curly maple on the blued and ebony on the stainless. Had the Hogue grips on my first Blackhawk in 41 that I foolishly sold years ago. They were comfortable and worked great. If we could carry and hunt with handguns in Canada, I would get another set.
I have a S&W Model 57 with 6" barrel. A stainless model would be great to pair with it. The new 4.2" barrelled Redhawk is teasing me right now.
I also found, after more than 20 years of looking, a Marlin 1894S. This will be accompanying me and my recurve, when I finally get to go cougar hunting!
Have found my favourite factory ammo to be the Winchester 240 gr Platinum Tip. Seems to be more accurate than the 210 gr ammo from other manufacturers in my firearms. Recoil is noticeably more than the other, but still controllable.
Would really like to find a 240 gr Keith style mould to try some casts (or find someone who can make me some).
