I'm looking for my first hammer fired pistol, to get into ipsc, ppc, etc.

Everybody has a hard on for the Cz shadow, it's a well know fact. But what about the new generation of the Jericho 941? It has some really good reviews on youtube.

sootch00 even says it is smoother in SA than the Shadow!

The Jericho range kit is 699$ on some of the site sponsors. At this price, with a holster and a 2 mag pouch it's is really attractive. And I was thinking, it's already based on the Shadow, so if I ever want to switch for a Shadow 1 or 2 I won't have to learn everything from scratch.

Anyone here with experience on this pistol vs a Shadow?

Nothing wrong with the Jericho, but the Shadow is a much better choice. There is a reason why there are 100
Shadows for every Jericho on an IPSC range.
There are way more accessories and equipment available for the CZ, you'll find way more advice and assistance from your fellow shooters if you choose a gun everyone else has owned and shot.
If you have a problem with a CZ at a match 20 guys will have spares and knowledge to get you running.
Have a problem with a Jericho they'll just ask 'why are you shooting a Jericho?'.

get a Shadow.....much better gun. If you are planning on tuning and a lot of shooting - CZ parts are widely available. Just my 2 cents :)

I'd go with the Shadow
I'm not super fond of the placement of the safety/decocker on the Jericho
But, if you can get a hold of the Jericho with the frame mounted safety, I might lean towards the Jericho slightly more

Yep..really should go shadow...I’ve always wanted to try the Jericho..but not as a replacement for my shadow..it is that good..

If it has the slide mounted decocker, as opposed to a frame mounted safety you only have a DA first shot and no other option, other than starting on an empty chamber if you are playing one of the holster games.

Should have had that in the original.

I have a Jericho 941 with a de-cocker safety mounted on the slide and disagree with the quoted statement of "DA first shot no other option" as utter and complete nonsense.

Having said that, I like the Jericho and would buy again if I had it to do again.

Can you engage the safety without decocking? I know I like the guns but have no experience with the platform.

I had a full size steel 941 and sold it. It is a great gun, good SA trigger and soft recoil, but I could never get past the safety/decocker on the slide. Now I shoot a Shadow and don't regret the sale of the Jericho.

So you cannot start SA, safety on?
Nope, it decocks as the safety is applied. Same as Beretta 92's.

I think that would make it a mandatory DA first shot.

Technically, no. DA is only mandatory if you need the safety on. If you're just standing at a bench, load a mag, rack the slide, you're good to shoot SA on the first shot.

However, if the OP would like to get into shooting games and would like to try using this pistol from a holster, like a 1911, in SA and safety on, then this is impossible. A Shadow can do this though.

I have a Jericho and its a terrific beginner pistol. I doubt I will ever get rid of it. But for competition I'd go with the shadow.
