Marlin 25-20

Rifle in VG condition is going to run $1400-$1600. Ammo, brass, components etc not the easiest to find.

Yeah, you aren't going to want to shoot much purchased ammo in that if you find any.

The up side is that it's super cheap to load for and relatively easy as long as your fingers are deft enough for tiny cases. My hands cramp up after a bit some days.
Brass is hard to find but 32-20 necks down easily and is common.

Hard to find but interesting little cartridge! Looks just like a mini 30-30 cartridge and has just enough recoil so that you know you are shooting
a firearm but none of the jolt that comes from all other center fire cartridges. You will want to reload this, you can get your first lot of brass
by special ordering some ammo for about $100 per box of 50.

Awesome little round. I rebarreled a lee metford receiver with a win92 barrel chambered in 25-20. Ammo is about 2$ a round there is stuff still around. But if you can find brass your doing alright and you can relaod it. I just picked up 600 bullets and 200 brass from a WTB add.

I have a .25-20 Model 53 Winchester.Neat little cartridge, fun to shoot and load for.Loaded cartridges can usually be found at most gun shows.

I have a M23 Savage bolt action in 25-20. Reloading is the way to go with any less than common caliber if you plan on shooting it much. 25-20 is neat little round that is economical to reload with cast bullets.

Make sure you check the mag tube assembly.
Parts are rare as hens teeth.

There was a thread on'ear not long ago.
Maybe a searchie-search might bring it up for you.

I have the same gun.
I was able to pick up all the reloading components from various sources, and a bunch a factory ammo here on the EE.

This is the mother of all reloading threads on the subject:

Sometimes the gun jams up on me and I have to break it down to release it and get a cartridge out, so if there is any ammo around I'd suggest cycling a few tubes' worth to check it out.

Would love to get my paws on a bolt action.

I bought a very nice Husqvarna Model 25 single shot bolt rifle from Tradex a few years ago for my wife in 25-20. Nice and light but has a good solid feel about it, and a lot of fun to shoot. I have a small stash of 25-20 ammo that we are slowly using up but for the most part I handload ammo using necked down 32-20 brass and because of the non-lever nature of the rifle I can use any type of bullet profile in it.
