New to AR15 - seeking upgrade advice

As the title says I'm planning on being a new ar15 owner soon as the ground dries up and I don't have to get muddy walking back and forth when stapling up my targets. My choice is the S&W MP15 Sport 2. My only concern is the trigger. I'm more oriented towards accuracy rather than rate of fire and I usually shoot from the standing position. I shoot 10m air rifle daily which has a very light two stage trigger. Would this be a worthwhile expense with a new gun? I would not want to do anything that could compromise safety.

No issues with any respectable aftermarket trigger kit. Geisselle is the basic go to company. Check with Arms East on the site here.
The National Match trigger will likely cost half the price of your rifle though!

If you want a cheap basic cleaned up Mil spec trigger, I would recommend the ALC ACT trigger.
 
I've seen some of the Geisselle triggers. I think the National Match trigger was $400+. More than 2/3 the cost of the new rifle. Must be really something and I'm sure it will make it's way into my kit.

Personally, I would just use the stock trigger. When broken-in, it's not half bad. If you're into precision shooting, I would put together a better AR15 using quality parts, including a target barrel. Having said that, you could start with changing the trigger pack in your M&P and use it later for a precision build. Triggertech is a Canadian company that makes excellent triggers for around $250.00.

That is exactly what I am thinking. Buy the good trigger now and use it in the end build when budget allows. I'm not sure I'm willing to drop $3k+ on a custom build right from the get go. I definitely want to work on my skills first. Some research on triggertech is in order.

Some very good advice here already. I agree with shooting the stock trigger for a little while before upgrading. I bought a sport 2 as well and was going to upgrade the trigger but after shooting it for awhile I found it really was not that bad at all and decided to put some money into the furniture instead. I find the foregrip and pistol grip hinder my performance with the rifle more then the trigger does as I just don’t find them that comfortable to use so I ordered a Magpul furniture kit. That was just me though you may find the stock furniture works great for you and can put your money towards that trigger, put some rounds down range and see what does and what does not work for you and upgrade from there. Once you start there is no stopping so that trigger will come no matter what lol

Ah, addiction. I love it.

I've shot some pretty awful triggers with some degree of success so waiting isn't all bad. I'm just spoiled by match grade airgun triggers. It's all good advice. Even if I don't upgrade now I'll be prepared when the time comes.

I think you will find the charging handle will get n the way of any adjustable combs. I swapped out my grip, stock and hand guard for more comfy Magpul stuff. After the scope was mounted I swapped out the charging handle for a Raptor, very slick. My Sport II trigger is good enough for MOA.
 
Shoot it as is and see if you are okay with it. I have both Triggertech and Rock River Arms National Match trigger. Both are great triggers but RR arms trigger is $158 compared to close to $300 with Triggertech.
