Get some IVI 7.62NATO for $20/100, size, swage, and shoot, will last a looong time.
I agree with Mr. D's sentimints.
Neck down, cut to length..............prestoe.
I still haven't trimmed my 7/08 Lapua brass which was .308 before they made 7/08 brass.
I do have a true 1/2 MOA load with this brass and it doesn't grow a significant amount after many firings with a moderate load.
Just go buy the 7/08 Lapua brass, you will thank me after one purchase and multiple firings.

Kelly, I found some 308 Lapua at the range. (what appears to be 1F) I am going to try that soon enough in 7-08. I also have 7-08 Lapua brass to compare side to side.
OP, following with interest. I have to say there HAS to be some touch labour to convert. When I compare my time to convert to what ever headstamp to 7-08...I'm losing. YMMV. That being said, I will be converting what good fortune has provided to experience for myself.
Regards
Ronr

Morning Ron ,
This is my 308 necked down brass to 7/08 at 100.Two different lots , not separated all mixed together.
Top is my buddy , second year shooting first time with that rifle, bottom is mine. Both 5 shots.
I don't think you will be disappointed.
Best thing is the brass after sizing was approx 0.010" to 0.015"short and it never needs trimming.
I did neck turn about 50-70% of the neck surface however just for poops and giggles.
What purpose is the brass for? Long range target? Hunting?
308 brass, neck down, false shoulder to control headspace, and shoot it. Zero difference between using once fired 7/08 and once fired 3/08. Still has to be sized before you load it, so there isn't any "extra effort" to speak of.
