What would be a good price be for an Armalite AR-180B semi-auto rifle? I might have the opportunity to make an offer on one. It's not really something I want to purchase but I'm helping out a friend that needs the cash. It's in Mint shape. I'd like to give current price so I don't risk loosing friend if I decide to sell it down the road. I understand that it's NR so it might have a following. Any help would appreciated.

Between $1500 - 1800 seems to be the going rate.

$1800 seems to be about what a mint condition one goes for on EE

The good thing now about the original AR-180b is that now there will be replacement bolts and carriers available. It's a good time to be a 180 owner.

The very odd person who wishes to have one for collector purposes may still be willing to pay a good price for a mint original. But I suspect those people are few and far between.

On a side note, RWA has just announced that they are now partnered with Nodak and will be offering complete rifles built using the Nodak lowers.

I suspect that with the much improved Wolverine WK180C version about to be released for $1000, the older 180B will drop dramatically.
Personally, if both were offered to me for the same $1000, I would still not want the B type.

I agree about the current price but not for long. Once the Wolverine and RWA options hit the market the bottom will drop out of the used 180b market.

RWA building uppers... Nodak Lowers available... and the WK180c...

Wouldn't spend over 1000 on a AR180b now. The market isn't so limited now.

Wasn't Canada Ammo working on something 180b based too?

Regardless, I totally agree, The days of the 180b being an expensive rifle are about to be over. Along with the stuff you mentioned, the AR-like NR receiver sets coming to market means there will be no reason to spend $1500+ on a real 180b. Then you've got the Kel-tec RDB for the bullpup fans at $1500...

The AR180b is pretty much the last firearm I'd be investing in right now. OP unless you are willing to take a big gamble, I wouldn't buy it personally.

Perhaps. As long as you don't intend to sell the rifle ever and the decrease in value doesn't bother you, then its probably a great time to be a 180b owner.

With the RWA and Wk180c using AR15 barrels... there might... might... be some compatibility issues back and forth.

Complete uppers will likely swap. But bolt carriers alone might not. Only time will tell.

I seen some of the RWA guys at the range last week. They have some upgrade parts I hope fit the WK180C. The rifle I seen them shooting had a bolt release.

It's a retro 900 $ in it naked form.

For the purpose of collection a mint on 1400$.particularly new.

A beater 1000 to 1200.

They are cool but I wouldn't buy one.
The market said NO.
They are long in the tooth on parts.

So only if you think it awesome
But
it's dated.

5 to 10 years ago I would have paid $1400 for an excellent condition one (that's about what I sold my last one for about the same time back)
Now with the Nodak lowers and especially the WK180c at under $1K, I wouldn't pay more than $1K for a used one regardless of condition.
The design of the 180c is twice the quality and value of any old 180b with likely thousands of rounds down the pipe and no parts support for over a decade of use between multiple owners.

Don't get me wrong, I love the AR180 design. Actually I prefer it over the AR15 by far. However, with all the current offerings of NR black rifles on our market these days and a new 180c that is twice the gun any 180b ever was, it is not the rare Canadian unicorn rifle it once was. 10 years ago it was one of the only true NR black rifles. Those days are long gone now. XCR-L, Tavor, T97, Kel-Tec 16, SG542, WR762, T81, 58x series Mini14 etc etc all available for less in either new or second hand condition.
You would have to be smoking drugs to pay $1,600 to $2,000 for a 180b these days IMHO.
