PRS bags advice please

Guys will generally let you try their gear at a match. I use a rear bag with lightweight fill than connects to my stock with a qd swivel, a gamechanger-type bag and a large-ish "pump-pillow" If I could only bring one, it would be the gamechanger. Try out as many as you can.

Just like Slim and Dave said. 3 bags is just about right, I did use my Gamechanger as rear bag for awhile and it works well but I have now gone back to my beer can style bag.

At the match I am sure someone on your squad will have a gamechanger you can try out. There are always a few pump pillows kicking around as well.

I do think picking up an OG gamechanger would be good too though. If you end up not likeing it I am sure someone on the EE would take it off your hands.

Thanks , I was looking at the pump pillow and possibly the Todd Tac.

I can bring the Tac Pac for you to try, I will throw it in my car, it will stay there til the match much to the chagrin of my wife.

I find the Pillows to be more versatile but it is always nice to try things out.

A small "beer can" rear bag for prone shooting, and a nice big pump pillow for filling voids in seating/kneeling positions are two must-haves IHMO. The gamechanger is nice, but I use it the least of the three.

I use the Solo Sac as my barricade bag. Also have a game changer that I mostly use as a rear bag. If ever I need a large pillow, I just use my backpack.

I feel my backpack might be overkill

The three bags I use are:

Pump Pillow
Gamechanger
Tab Str8 laced (rear bag)

One option is to order a couple meters of cordura and some snaps, clips, buckles, webbing, and fill IOT make your own bags. That way you can make them to your specs and dimensions, or just copy the sizes of the existing bags on the market. Find out what works for you, and then go. I did this a couple of years ago, and 3m of fabric made 7-8 bags of all sizes, plus a shooting mat (similar to the tab Pollock). In the end, the 3 bags listed above were the only ones I needed and it cost me about $100 (or the price of one of those bags) to actually determine what I need or would use.

I run a Gamechanger, Pump Pillow and plain beer can rear bag (from Skullboy I believe). The Gamechanger is great for barricade work but I’m starting to think that the Pump Pillow is more important. The Gamechanger definitely helps stay on target, manage recoil and with stability but for me the Pump Pillow is key to reducing wobble as you go to take the actual shot.

Having said that, I just switched to a lighter trigger (thanks YoDave) so hopefully it will be easier to break the shot when the crosshairs are on the target. A smooth trigger pull with a 2-3lb trigger can be tricky when you’re on a wobbly barricade.

I haven’t competed. Take this with a brick of rock salt. Honestly all my shooting of this type was in class, once. But after that I’d say you can do just about everything with a beer can bag. And a pump pillow. The game changer (or udder type) is super versatile. if you’re budget minded then I’d go for those two. Add a game changer/udder if you’re slightly more flexible. If you’re really flexy, 2 pump, 1 heavier beer can, a game/udder, and a 20-35L backpack would be more than enough. But my really limited experience tells me 1, you need a soft between hard spot(beer can) and 2 a way to quickly fill body voids (pump). The can doubles in prone as a squeeze bag. And the pillow can be used as needed for high prone etc.
