I have an elite 2.5-10x40 on my hunting rifle but it would like to get something in the 4-16 magnification range.

How does the engage line from bushnell compare to the elite? Or should I keep saving for that 6500 that has 2.5-16 magnification?

I'm pretty happy with the quality of my elite but the 30% rebate in march is making me want to spend money...

Logically the new lineup should go: Legend, engage, 3500, 4500, etc

That being said. I find even the legends to be good optics for the price. The engage models have some nicer features/reticles and selections considering the price point. I would expect it to be as clear or slightly less clear than your 3200. But hey.... 30% off is a good deal.

Edit: and dont forget that lifetime warranty.

For the glass quality. Engage should be better than a old 3200 which should be about 10 years old. I did compare the old 3200 with a new legend scope, while I hold one in my right hand and another in my left hand, then put both at certain distance when you can see through both of scope, then u can clearly see difference of light transmission. To be honest, Chinese made legend is brighter than old 3200 but darker than new 3500. I would say it mainly due to the age of scope.

Legend line has been discontinued so if you want one of the 4.5-14, start looking.
Engage seems like crap to me, stick with Japanese Elites, or switch over to Nikon.
Even the Covenant line from Cabela's when they go on sale for $299 would be a better option.
