Gun and Gang Violence Summit

That was basically it, everything was in support of more government, when federal dollars runs out, makes sure there is provincial dollars. It's all about supporting their organizations and ensuring social employment.

Lots of mischaracterization, virtue signaling, collect data in all the wrong areas (legal use) apply to illegal use, control how data is used, and enact preventative measures that violate individual rights and privacy. Throw in some community programs, pet projects and more funding for police. You really have to pay attention to what people actually say, lots of misuse of vocabulary that frames and redirects the conversations that were supposedly happening.

I only got to see a couple hours of it, but I'm not impressed, at all. Yet, I do think many of those people were very well meaning.

If only the government had more power and money everything would be okay.
Not.

I'm sure Mr. DRESS UP and his puppet Ralph have already decided on the changes. These clowns are so far left the make the NDP look libertarian.

These "summits" are such a waste of time..these people have no interest in listening to anyone except themselves or their friends..I am sure that if for just a few minutes they actually shut up and listened to calm rational opinions other then their own..they might actually start to realize how crazy and out of touch they truly are!! One can only hope that they see the light someday...

I didn't see the live feed but I was disappointed in Blairs comments on Power & Politics. Nothing seemed particularly bad for us but his answers on dealing with crime were pretty vacant of real meat.

I find this theatre troubling.

Normally the Liberals seem to prefer to whip out their policies with loud virtue signalling up front and - only when pressured - do a tour of meaningless town halls and call it stakeholder consultation... without changing their policies a whit.

So how over the top stupid & bad does their policy have to be that they need to stage this first?

They just said on global national they are rolling out a new "firearms legislation" what does that even mean? Could someone explain

Good observation and food for thought. There isa pattern to their behaviour isn't there.

I don't have an answer other than they are really late on the rollout of the Bill so maybe this was staged to make it look like it's really hard?

That did occur to me too.
They need to stall long enough to formulate a response timed to avoid doing anything but dangling it as a promise if re-elected.

After all, that is really their primary objective.

OK but are the gun owner orgs invited to present? Or just sit mutely in the audience?

I only watched certain parts of the agenda related to guns specifically. The orgs were not part of the agenda nor did I see any reference to them. They were just there to participate by listening in to what was being tabled by the looks of it.
