Gunsmith repair times, what’s the average, who’s quickest?

I work in the auto industry, service dept at a dealership. I hear our customers wanting their car fixed right now and for free, I feel sorry that it can’t be done every time but we try. A big job like a transmission may take a week to get into the shop. Now my question I ask you is what is your wait times for gun repairs or modifications?ive had a slide in a shop for over a month now just to get the sights changed, is this normal?
Who has the best turn around times where you live? The wait is not killing me, I have others to shoot, but if I didn’t.....
How’s your service been?

I do most work by myself on my guns, the few jobs that I have had to send in have usually been done in 3-4 weeks or so.
I can't see changing sights taking more than an hour, and thats being very generous, unless there is machining involved.

a month to get sights changed???? NO! Lol I've had installed sights myself but also had a gun Smith do it a couple times. Once he did it right there as i waited 2nd time I had to come back in 2 days because they were busy with a hunting season coming. (Al Simon's in Hamilton)

Anything more than that for sights is unacceptable. I also would not leave the gun if they told me it would be longer them day or two: changing sights takes minutes.

My LGS put my pistol sights on for me in about 15 minutes while I waited arround the shop.

I think youd have to pay me to send my gun in for that.

These a lot of variables to answer this question.

Around these parts it also depends on the time of the year.

If it's during the hunting season it usually takes a bit longer due to the extra workload of the smiths. During the off season it's usually quicker.

It also really depends on what you want done and accessibility of parts, etc..

Good, Fast, Cheap: You Can Only Pick Two!

Do you add a pointless reply to get your posts up? This was a question, a real inquiry as to an average time to do a repair. I dropped off a slide for a sight installation at the end of January and it was not ready until this week, March. It’s a nice shop and I do like to shop there, I am their customer and will continue to take my dollars there, the staff is very nice and helpful.
As a direct reply to your thoughtful post..........I picked only one, GOOD. That’s why it took it to the dealer I did.

Not Armco. I can tell you that. Pistol has been gone for 3 months. They don't answer the phone, and very rarely emails. My gun could be anywhere....
