I was nervous when I bought my k624i a few months ago, hoping they wouldn’t come out with something new and ground breaking, this does not look ground breaking... kinda happy kinda disappointed.

So.... they are just now using a 5x erector that is 10yrs out of date instead of the 4x erector that was 20yrs out of date. Cool!

So what if they are using a 5x? Are the S&B PMII, NF ATACR, NF BEAST, US Optics, Tangent Theta, Premier Heritage and Steiner 5x zoom range scopes all out of date too?

I don't think I've ever shot a stage where 5x or 6x at the low end or 24x or 25x at the high end would've made the slightest difference.

A lot of time has passed since most of the scopes you rattled off came to market. Just saying that a 5-30 or 5-35 would have been cool considering there are 9x erector scopes on the market. They had a clean slate afterall.

BTW I've never shot a stage where the tunneling of my S&B from 5-8x made the slightest difference either but some keyboard champs think it does. To each their own I guess.

Pretty sure they can stuff a 9x/10x erector if they want to like those junk Valdada IOR scopes. But their aim is maximum light transmission and contrast.

For a company that's over 100 years old, I'd like to think they know what they're doing.

And the fact that they are still on the market and as popular as ever says something about their viability and suitability.

The difference being that the erector Kahles used was a specific design decision, while the tunnelling is a flaw.

Not saying that any of those scopes or the new Kahles are not viable or suitable. Simply saying that it might have been nice to see an expanded magnification range considering that they already have a 6-24.

I'm sorry if my criticism was a trigger for the Kahles SJW's out there...

If it's zoom ratio that's the issue, there are the excellent Japanese-made March scopes, some with 10X zoom ratio: the 1-10x24, 2.5-25x42, 2.5-25x52, 8-80x56. All with state-of-the-art ED glass, and, from all reports, optically the equal of S&B, Kahles, et al. You can get a 2.5-25x42 directly from Marchoptics.com in Bellingham WA for around $2500 Cdn. plus shipping and a $50 export fee.

Couldn't tell you how many times I've heard that one.

You see, using one metric as measurement means f*** all. A Toyota Camry makes more horsepower than the cheapest Porsche and it doesn't mean the Camry is a better car.

I don't know what you mean by "one metric as measurement," but I've read this evaluation of the quality of March glass and optics in several places--the Optics Talk forum, Accurate Shooter Shooters' Forum--Scopes, Optics subforum, Benchrest Central Forums to name only three. My main point in posting was to pick up on the zoom ratio issue.

We will be adding the new models to our website, and making a post in our forum with full details, however here are the essentials:

I just bought a Kahles K525i with the SKMR 3 reticle for my Steyr 6.5CM

Worth every penny with out any doubt.
The glass quality, turrets, LHS windage, everything about it is well made.

Highly recommended.
