My buddy had some squib loads and got two projectiles stuck in the barrel of his 19-5 and it looks like the barrel will need to be replaced. Does anyone have any leads on Barrels that would fit a 19-5 ? would a 586 Barrel work. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I have already email Murray Charlton but wondering if there is anyone else? Can Barrels be imported from the states.

Your best bet would be to contact Murray Charlton Enterprises on Vancouver Island (http://murraycharltonenterprises DOT com). He's the S&W service centre. He's been in the biz a long time and is generally considered "Mr. Smith & Wesson."
Are you sure it needs replacing? Is there a visible bulge? I actually did this once with my Model 19, too
Fortunately they were v. low-power .38 Spec. target rounds and there was no bulge. I was able to drive them out with a squib rod, but I sent it to Murray C because there was also a minor issue with the ejector rod not locking properly into the pin at the front. All good now

You must be one of the lucky b****rs with a 12.6 Did they made any HB Model 10s with "think of the children!" - length barrels?
Have you got the lead out yet/ what does it look like, I have shot barrels with rings in then and they where fine, if you can't feel it on the out side, try the gun.
The 19 is a K frame, the 586, 686 is L frame, I just got a couple barrels in today that are 38 s-w,5 in look like victory models/ model 10 (K); look like they should work, but have not had a chance to check.

I have not been able to take a look at it yet it is sitting at his local gun store. He was talking about getting the pistol destroyed, I said let me look at it first if I can't get the lead out I would find a barrel. It is a sweet shooter as I know ... as I sold it to him. I also have been told you can try a small drill bit a drill down the middle of the bullet to break the lead to make it easier to hammer out the squibs. He was shooting spear lead jacket hollow points. He is calling the gun store today to get the final verdict on what they can do today .
That's what I did with mine. As I recall, I used a 3/16" or 1/4" x 6" aircraft bit and a sleeve of some sort - a piece of brass tubing - and a brass bore-cleaning guide to keep it centred. I removed the cylinder (by removing the front-most of the 3 sideplate screws) and clamped the revolver in nylon jaws in my bench vise. It was a bit nerve-wracking but I went slowly. I then put a 32-20 case in my drill press and turned the rim down to just fit the bore and put it on a bit of rod and tapped the bullets out.

Well, we don't have it to look at, so who knows? When I had the same problem (see Post #2) I got mine out OK - albeit with much trepidation - but I still sent it to MC as there was a small problem with the extractor rod not locking up quite right in the barrel shroud. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valour...
I have a 19-4 that is sporting a full lug 586 Barrel, maybe it had some modifications done to be able to do this? I got the gun this way so Iam not to sure.

Murray Charlton does this modification because it is easier for him to install a new L-Frame barrel than a used K-Frame barrel. He is doing this more commonly for Prohib/Restricted conversions. Maybe this is one of his. If so, it will be an excellent job and the gun will be better than the original. Of course it will never have a collector value, so shoot it all day long and enjoy it. It’s better than another Prohib being sent through the shredder and destroyed.
It is one of his, Its one of my favorite pistols, And one of my nicest looking ones too.
